servo saver
 

hello

i want to avoid the play on the steering to maximum posible , so i am lookign for a servo saver which can be used on the mini cooper .

tamiya high torque servo saver it is shorter so sterring response will be affected.... anyone did this before?

I use the Hi torque tamiya unit. I don't usually feel the need for all the steering. one issue that the M03 has is the servo is not firmly mounted, so I put some shoe goo to hold the servo firmly remember the chassis seperates so be carfull where you put it.
The M03M suspension has ackerman holes to gain what you think you are loosing.

well i am not afraid to loose steering , it might be even good to loose a little bit of steering on high speeds (theese minis steers a lot) im just not sure of what are going to be the changes using a shorter servo saver , because of that i would like to look for servo saver that has the same length

but if you are using the tamiya high torque SS and not feeling so much the diference , maybe i use it too...

i just wonder why tamiya did a special servo horn for the mini if they had the standard already done , it must be for some reason

what is the shoe goo by the way ? everybody talking about it but ...

Pretty easy to understand, that is the same tree that is used on the TL01. and why add more cost to add another tree.
But racers edge makes a servo saver that is very very similar in length to the original unit if you are concerned.
As for shoe goo. it is glue that is like a silcone sealer let me see if I can find something. You can find it in a hardware section most anywere.

shame that conversion is belted, i preffer shaft drive ones in general ,i have seen you tested the ABC hobby shaft mini, how is it?

The ABC Genetic is a fine little car Doc. And interestingly enough, ABC are doing a belt version of it too. Will be out soon.

Its only problem is that its a little fragile by comparison with an M03 so you need to stay off them walls! But they sure have got a nice turn of speed, and nice and quiet too.

now that you mention it , why tamiya minis are so noisy? is it possibe to make them more silents? they sound like a pig being killed by knife on throat !!!

Why are they noisy? Well it's a combination of things. Gear pitch (internal) is pretty coarse and that's the main source. Plus the mesh is designed to run as 'loose' as possible and that makes for more noise.
And...there's a lot of empty space inside the chassis so what noise there is, the chassis amplifies and makes sound worse.
In the end, it's just something that you learn to live with.
Plus its good because if I hear a really quiet car, then I know its probably illegal....

You can get aftermarket gears but they dont really make any difference.
