Silvercan with too much power??? I don't think so ! I ran my mini out of the box with a 7turn motor on a 8scale track... Lots of rollovers but it was fun and never felt overpowered to me then, so a silvercan motor won't impress me much, but I do enjoy the mini competition...
I switched to silvercan when the 7turn motor blew the original diff...... |

Not a bad weight for my M05 excluding battery and body?
|
If you want it to be tcs. Legal, its underweighted. Put your battery in there and reweigh it. I think tcs legal is about 1380 grams or more
|
Nope, tcs legal is 1580grams or more....lol....
Ahahah...... It's 1250grams or more.... Or is it 1200grams or more ???????? |

Ok Bert, tcs rule 7 for the mini class sez 1250 grams or more. LOL
|
That's what I thought too..... LoL.... At club level, most run their cars around 1200grams, so the m05 above is the right weight for club Racing..... I run mine at 1215grams or so without any issues, but I suspect some others are much lighter(1140grams or less)....
|
Well the m05 above is on the light side when you add a body(100grams), and a battery(168grams Tp2700 35C), and still only weigh 1156grams...... That's Amain weight right there...lol...
|
Odd. We've got people here complaining they can't make the 05 light enough. Our minimum is 1200g. I never found it to be a problem myself.
Had my 04 on the track for the past few days. Remembering all the good and bad about it. Still a very fun car to drive and an absolute demon in a straight line. |
My 05 comes in around 1200g without lead. I add to get it up to about 1260g. I run the long wheelbase with the 06 Cooper LW. I've found my car wasn't as consistent when it's closer to the 1200 mark.
I agree with Howard, silver can is plenty. A good silver can really allows the minis to shine and run like they should. And yes, they still spin the tires a lot. I've run mini with 17.5 blinky and did not care for it all...way overpowered. It was like an on off switch with the torque and you really couldn't use the power efficiently. I could match lap times with my silver can and it was much more fun to drive. Maybe 25.5 will be a better match. |
I went overboard with titanium screws etc :p We are only allowed nimh cells at our club and my 3000mah one's weigh 340gms :(

Seriously, I haven't even charged a round cell since 2005! But then again, I said the same thing about using my Turbo Thirty, which does an awesome job of measuring amp draw when you are breaking in silver can motors.....something else I never thought I'd do again.

Sometimes i read you and I see my mini with a 10.5T justock and feel that here in Spain are way crazy. These year we have reduced the power using everyone a 10.5T last years it was an open class and some people were using even 6.5T. And yes gears lasting only one race... crazy thing
|
I remember being at the TCS opener in SoCal in 2012, the first race for Mini Pro, and the silvercan Mini's were pulling better laptimes than the pro cars.
Mini's have been the same speed for decades, and are bar-none the most popular and most fun to drive because of that. |
