6.5?!?!? Man, I gear my monsters at 8.0. They are all rpm, no torque. Try it 8.0, you'll be surprised

also be progressive on teh throttle out of turns, this will help to minimise the current through the motor, and keep it cooler, and keep the batts voltage higher for longer

Depends on the track, weather and the efficiency of a car's drivetrain.

Down here in down under we gear our Monsters at around 6.1 because our tracks are very big.

I run mine at 7.8 for a fairly large and sweeping track. 6.5 sounds way overgeared.

That sounds like a tight track, try 7 to 7.5, that's what I gear at when I race at tight track.

As mentioned above, if you can be very smooth on the throttle and even on hair pins be able to drive through them without lots of stop and go style throttle control then you can get away with gearing up, but you have to be smooth.

If the above options do not work remove the links to the capacitor board. If a capacitor shorts out it will make the motor run hot. I have seen this problem before on motors such as the P2k series so it is worth a shot.
