hey robert.

right now i'm just curious. all this 415/my02 hype has got me thinking.

remember that discussion we had at halloween? about the chassis layout vs. rotation or yaw? yeah, well...i don't have $550 for a 415.

i know the atlas is stubborn, but i keep thinking back to my high front roll center and 0* rear toe setup. now that was rotation! i kind of wish i would have played with that setup more.

the si looks lighter and lower than it's predecessor (not to mention better balanced.

btw - any word on the s/even in chicago?

and dude you WILL make it to the roar nats here at norcar!

lata.

robert,

did you know that lopez went from short arms in warm ups, to long arms in the heats on his xray?

claimed that the car transitioned better with the lengthy ones. huh?

sometimes it's tough to separate the hype from the reality. where does all this jibba jabba come from?

just food for thought. (and a pitch for the atlas cars.)

Ok, look at what would happen as traction comes up high. You want to go to a lower roll center to keep the car from ceasing to roll and want to flip...So possibly "the car transitioned better with the lengthy ones" was more of a smoothness thing? The car might be hard to drive if it rolled really quickly...

Not to mention that the longer arms would contribute to a lower roll center.

Hi guys....

I have been looking for a new touring car to run and I like the atlas (si). I am curious as to what is standard (comes in the box) and what options are worth looking at. I usually love high roll centers but noticed that integy only have high roll center parts for the rear... is there a front end equivilent? Is there a better place to buy them from (better than integy website)?

Thanx....

dragonfire,

i had a type t, and now i have the si version. it is well constructed, and is a stong car. the u block for the rear can be used in the front, but it will toe the arm 1* in or out, depending the orientation. in fact, that is what i would like to do as well. i have not put it on the track yet, but i do intend to use high roll center front and rear if/when i do.

i will tell you that the l/r weight balance is way off. despite the fact that atlas moved the motor out, they reversed the belts, so that the battery is moved out as much or more! i was discusted when i became aware of this.

integy is really the only source in the states for atlas parts. and they are not cheap.

there are many great things about the car, but the weight issue just bothers me. you shouldn't need a single thing to be competitive here, as the car is light and stong. maybe just some rear hub options for toe, and rollcenter blocks.

it's pretty, but expensive.

new atlas car??

i dunno if this is what atlas is working on, or just some hobbiests, but it's worth a look.

the drivetrain appears to model the prototype kyosho sedan, with a single belt and reverse orientation motor.

the suspension was also redesigned, perhaps using alex parts.

thoughts?
