If anyone out there from HPI is listening in, we're ~2 weeks away from the Nationals, which means that unless the Boss 302 bodies are shipping to distributors today, it's not likely that any of us will have them in our hands soon enough to paint, detail and interior them before the Nats & Concours.
It's too bad these couldn't have been pushed through a little faster, as this is really the last big indoor race of the season, and it would have been nice to get a hold of them a little sooner.

I guess the only way to have gotten a J71 was order directly from Protoform - which is cool, but sucks all the same that local shops can't get them when they are released
Does ANYONE have a J71 going to the Nats !!??
Mongoose esc report
I had just PM'd NovakTwo and was awaiting his response before posting but it looks like this is a good time to throw another test report out there.
I installed the Mongoose in my Team Magic E4FS running the 25.5 and a FDR of 4.0 and it runs great. No power loss even with the stock 16g wiring. I needed to lengthen the positive battery wire and all the motor wires but chose to continue using 16g wire and not upgrade to something larger.
The Mongoose is wired a bit differently than the Havoc in that the wires are attached to both the top AND bottom of the circuit board and are factory soldered. Unlike the havoc, the wires aren't soldered vertically into the board, they're soldered flat and point outward to one side of the esc. Due to the small size of the esc ,this causes no problems with wire routing since there's plenty of room left. You could easily change to 14g wire and still have plenty of room to maneuver things.
The Mongoose has all the adjustable parameters needed. In comparison with the Havoc, it does without Throttle Curve selection, Brake Frequency, and the Reverse Disable feature although 1 of the 3 Brushless profiles does offer no reverse. Anyone who's questioned the brake strength of the havoc will love the Mongoose. This little guy has BIG brakes ! I had just recently adjusted the belt tensions on my E4 to work with my Havoc at it's maximum drag brake setting. With the Mongoose set at it's max of 7, I now have to tension the belts again due to the strength of the Mongoose brakes.
Here's a couple of pics to show the difference between a Havoc Pro and the Mongoose. Keep in mind the Havoc Pro is already smaller than the Havoc so the Mongoose is quite a difference.
As a club director this would make a great alternative esc for newer drivers. The adjustable parameters are easy to use like the Havoc but just enough to satisfy the needs of a newbie or most experienced drivers. This one will stay on my VTA car. The brakes are just too good to overlook for us late brakers !!
For those not familiar with the E4, you can see the chassis is rather narrow and all the electronics mount on the right side of the chassis. Even with the Havoc Pro and a very small dss receiver, there's little room. The first 2 pics on the left show the Mongoose, the 2 on the right are the Havoc Pro. The middle pic is just to show the overall chassis layout.

In the Mini class for the Nationals what is the silver can motor restrictions? Can the silver can be any manufacturer, and does it have to be a 27T? Thanks.

I thought Rob said it was TCS rules for mini's with any hop-ups...I took that to mean Tamiya Silver Cans only - but I could be wrong
Will there be rpm limit enforced for silver can mini class ? i hope so !!!

I believe we used Tamiya rules last year-13500 @ 5v, but in the light of what has been going on with the motors at TCS events, we may need to raise it to 18000 or 18500 @ 7.2v
