Dude, your idea was Great...Stand by it and stick to it...What I was saying was that this would be one of those cool fun "promo" race type classes...STRICTLY Exhibition only...Basically it files pretty much under RCGT with the exception of allowing Vintage TA spec cars to compete "IF they wanted to." I liked the pitched idea and commended you for it. ... I can't see how this could be viewed as taking away from the ever strong USVTA/ Vintage TA racing package. Any one that viewed that as such, just shouldn't...Hey, Vintage TA itself was once a "pitched idea." A brilliant, PERFECTLY pitched Idea with perfect timing I must add. The class is nearly bullet proof. It brought me back to RC Racing and I thank the USVTA for it. Ray M. Of the SJCCR in particular.
BUT... No one should EVER be flamed for sparking up new thoughts & Ideas. You definitely shouldnt you back off your thoughts or ideas simply because a few others don't agree. Take the ones that DID agree and communicate with them...I REALLY hate seeing questions and ideas get the groupie flame squad treatment. I understand a YES or NO answer, but not the arguments and flaming. So YES, I AGREE, It would be cool to see all these different rides from different time periods of racing on the track under the same go-power specs...BUT only as specialty races, and not to counter Vintage TA.

I appreciate that guys and I dont think its a bad idea even now. I havent pursued it simply because everybody around here is enjoying running VTA and I dont want to throw any water on that fire. I guess the best part of that idea is that if you had a VTA car you would have to do nothing at all to it to run "Street Spec"

Yes I did get flamed and I may be a bit gun shy, but I also didnt understand fully what the VTA was aiming for.
I think the GT idea is a good one where you use 200mm pan cars with mustang and other modern sports car shells. The only problem with that is you just dont have the choice of wheels that you would if they were running TC chassis.

I do still like the idea of a streetable looking class. I probably could do just one exibit race under the proposed rules, but Im sure I would get 90% VTA guys. And that would be fine.

I believe the BRL is running a 21.5/ LiPo class this winter, plus the stock 17.5/ 4 cell. I'm not sure if they could/ do run them together, though

in addition to those slash classes and VTA croppin up all over the country. down here, they just revived a tamiya spec class series (many down here still call it 'TL01' despite that car rarely shows anymore in favor of the newer TT01). it was runnin for over 10yrs @ RCO in hanover, pa before it closed down. many around here obviously thought bout how cheap and fun it was. thus it fired up. i heard they already have 15-20 cars ready for their 1st mtg this saturday at frederick. who also incidently just got the roar nats for 09.

thumbup to VTA indeed, i just finished mine. in time for season's end ha.

PS-now if only some1 would be the messiah and revive scale F1

The strange thing about F1, its hard to revive and at the same time it wont die either. We have been working really hard to bring F1 up again and at Prime Time in Calhoun GA. VTA and F1 often have a better show than TC.

Tamiya TCS is bringing back F-1 (the F-103 2wd vesion) for the '09 season with new hop-ups and go fast goodies. F-1 ROCKS!

On OVAL you can NOT run 17.5/4 cell WITH 21.5/LIPO

The LIPO 21.5 combo is several laps quicker (We've been running 21.5/LIPO all year, we developed that motor with NOVAK for our series. It's closer, much closer to 4 cell/ 13.5 speeds.

Due to the LOW rpm nature of the 21.5 motor, and limiting the rollout for VTA, I'm glad to see it in this class. If guys worked hard and ran the right types of cars, the 21.5 would be a HUGE advantage there too otherwise. (Cars like the HPI Pro2's where changing SPURS and PINIONS is easy...)

Default New Vintage bodies?

Anyone know when we are going to see some new bodies out for this class. I'm all new to this, but body choices are sure limited and my Camaro SS is not even an SS. Must it be limited to that erra of racing that I was not even around at that time? lol I thought Vintage meant just that "Vintage." Can we vote on this?

awww man..not another person coming into this thread trying to "change" things up..

actually there are a bunch of bodies available - HPI bodies are limited to 4 (2 mustangs, 1 camero, and 1 cuda)

check here - http://www.usvintagetransam.com/ - the "rules" page has all the legal bodies...

I dont know what your local racing club is doing. But if they say they are using USVTA rules then your bodies are indeed limited to what is listed there. You have to realize that these guys are into the idea of the whole race looking like a scale model of a Trans Am race from 1966 to 1972. If you understand that then it will save you some grief and keep you from barking up the wrong tree.

There is nothing wrong with having a race of RX-7's and Toyota Supras, but you will have to do that in a differrent class or race. Its just not what this thread or this organization is about.

I suppose while we're on the subject of bodies and such, I think it would be great to see some 2.0L Trans-Am (BMW 2002, Datsun 510, early-model 911s, Alfa GTAs, etc.) bodies. I don't mean to "change things up", I just think it would add appeal to VTA racing to those that aren't necessarily in to American muscle.

I'd love to see Euro bodies allowed into this class !
