I don't have a PRO4 yet but it is similar to the TC3 and I had too shim up my diffs too. If you have diff shims use them, you will get a better gear mesh. Shim the side of the diff that holds the diff gear(The shorter side), and you should be good to go... GOOD LUCK...

You should soak the bevel gears in hot water before installing (which is something stated on the hpi site somewhere). That helps to stop them from shattering teeth but yeah shimming of the gears is very important.

Yes, you can boil the gears for 15 minutes in hot water and what it does it makes the plastic flex under load, It becomes flexable... It works thats a old but good trick... I'm with you on that one...

One other thing you could try is to get a p-dub bumper. They are stiffer and wider than normal bumpers and as a result they give more protection to the suspension parts.
The bevel gear usually gets smashed up when you run a spool or one-way and when you tag things it puts a lot of stress on the front drive train. The wider bumper might help to prevent that but i dont know....
