Dunno if you got the answer to your question about front spings, but here's a little info.

Tamiya calls the silver springs "normal" and the black springs "stiff" for use on the F101/102/103 as an F1 car. The gold spings come with the LM chassis kits and are supposedly best suited for GTP style bodies.

There could be significance to the way Tamiya displays the spring set (50509) on their webpage too. http://www.tamiya.nl/tamoptions/tam_53000_03.html

I hope that helps!

Try MDI Racing in Fl. I got mine from them for a great price! He had one left not too long ago, so he may still have it. Email is [email protected]

I special ordered a bunch of stuff from them that I couldn't find anywhere.

If you're looking for Tamiya parts, there is a shop in Japan that you can order direct from. My buddies and I have ordered from them in the past and found their prices to be cheaper than can be found (in general) than in the US and it only takes 5 days to ship to California. http://www.rainbowten.co.jp/english/index.html is their url. The site is a little difficult to navigate and you have to do the email thing to place your order. To see their Tamiya parts list, click the "Today's Inventry List" link from the left frame, then "R/C CAR and Parts" Unless you can find a shop that will special order that top plate, I suspect you'll have a tough time finding one.
