Should old people with Skills be Forced out of Racing ROAR Masters.
Some other threads have brought up the issues with sand bagging in our hobby. I've got another bone to pick: old people who can still drive dominating the masters class.
Should a 40+ year old be allowed to race masters if he continually dominates the field, has 2-5 lap advantage every race, and when he's at home racing against younger "kids" he's always winning? Or should they be pushed out until they start to suck a little? If you were a 50 year old dude with some skill would you be real happy to find Barry Baker in your heat? Many of the Masters racing some of the ROAR events are full sponsored drivers who can still compete rather well in the open field....shouldn't they be forced to stay there? |
Awesome!!! Simply Awesome!!!!!!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol:

It's easier, when you keep them all together, to make sure they all get there medicine. Maybe Geritol could sponsor the Masters class.

This is kind of a stupid thread. The real issue is stock guys dominating that are too scared to move on................. There needs to be rules. Win an A main stock ROAR event you are out. Podium finish two or three times in stock you are out. Until you podium a few times or win you continue to race stock. Once you do meet the criteria you move on to 19 turn or modified. I still think there needs to be open modified and factory modified. This would attract more racers into running modified at these large events. Keep the factory guys out of 19 turn. Have rubber and foam modifed for the factory guys if they need to run two classes. |

The most dominant Masters driver is by far Eli Ezrow. I am not sure how I feel about this one. I race with Eli every week and he is a TOP LEVEL racer. He does race masters when it is available, but when it is not he races in the regular classes. It is not his fault he has mad skills and is over 45 yrs old.

People need to stop bitching and worrying about what everyone else is doing and just have some fun racing. |
What's happening to the youth of America?
Is it no longer PC to have a sense of humor? It's a joke carried over from the Nats thread! But Desolas is right, those cherry pickers should be forced to run mod, After all, how many times should you be alowed to win the Masters Stock Nats. I got that idea from reading all those other threads about pros in stock. :sneaky: :lol::lol: |
i'm pretty sure the big smiley in the title would indicate they are just having fun with the thread..

i think we need to end the nonsense of creating classes around motors, it should be based on lap times, all those running 11.0 to 11.4 in one class, 11.5 to 11.9 in another and on and on and on, before someone actually thinks this is a good idea, JUST KIDDING.....:lol::lol::lol:

Delete thread please:D
|
J/K
I would be all for an entry level masters and a pro level masters just so we don't pick on Eli.;)
Actually this thread makes sense, don't we want the people who can afford R/C racing the most, I.E. the "older" more affluent to get interested and start racing? I mean how am I supposed to get my dad into racing if he has to race against Eli??? That's why the hobby is dying! |
Yes please delete this and every other thread like this one.
Thanks. |

|
this is just racing let who every run what they want what yall talking about is just let trying to make a car run with no motor but here how you can fix it make a stock class for the guy who run fast week to week and make a sportsman stock class for the one who can not keep up later
|
Heck, Eli is the reason I retired! I had no chance of winning with him and Frank and Skip and Jimmy and.........................................:)
Masters should be open to anyone of legal age that can withstand the verbal abuse and the secrete initiation at Cleveland. Barry Baker in Masters:lol: The boys would never let him finish a heat! |
I thought I've seen it all.......this thread is what's wrong with RC racing. :sneaky: Barry is quickly approaching the masters class age and I for one could care less if him, masami, or Hara was in a heat that I'm in. I WILL PONY ONE OF THEM....:ha::ha:
Lakers vs Celtics Bulls vs Pistons Appolo vs Rocky Espo vs Harsh it makes for great entertainment and Espo whippin' up on Harsh so much has pushed Harsh into practicing more which in turn made him a threat in our area which made for killer racing. I hope Espo beats him again to keep him hungry and keep him on his toes.....ha ha ha ha ha ha.:lol::lol::lol: Do you think Espo prints out all these quotes and hangs them on his mirror and that's his motivation??? Damn I have too much time on my hands:ha::ha: |
My dad might be going to race in the Masters at Cleveland. He isn't that good, and he knows he isn't going to win the A-Main (I hope), so he won't care about racing with Eli Ezrow, Barry Baker, ect... (Sorry If I left a few guys out, send me a PM if you really want your name on the list) The fast guys will only be with him for qualifing.

I couldn't have said it any better. Right on Rob!

Leave us old guys alone. The Master class down here in Florida has a few younger guys against the older guys. Guess what the older guys are doing okay. Nationally I've driving against Tom and he's good.He meets the requirements and I have no problem with that.Maybe you want a Super Masters class for over 55- I'll go for that. But I'll still be losing to the overall leader in our series and he's grey just like me.By the way I also won a Nationals Masters title in 2003 in 1/12th.

What a dreadful thread.
Do some of you really think that RC racing is only about winning, and that if someone is better than you there must be some rule to stop them racing? Give the people with skills some respect. If the rules say over 45's or whatever, let them race, regardless of whether they are a former world champion or someone who picked up a transmitter for the first time a week ago. |
Ah what good entertainment that was..to those who realized I was joking, hope you enjoyed it..to those who didn't..eh, I was joking. It was simply a product of not enough sleep, and a 102 degree fever..
:) I like where it's going though.. Considering the age of some of our masters, I say forget looking to viagra, geritol, ben gay and related for sponsorship ... should be actively pursuing Preparation H. 50 year old fat guys who've been sitting on their asses for 30+ years wrenching on toy cars have got to have some serious fire down below. ahaha. I'm just kidding guys..I love old people. |
I think the way to solve this problem is to follow the National trend...just keep adding more classes. This way, 1 out of every 10 racers can be a National Champion.
Factory Masters sounds good. While we're at it, let's add: Rubber Factory Stock Brushless Foam Novice Stock LiPo Pneumatic Sportsman 19T Hamster-wheel Mod TC3 Racers from Arkansas with Orange HPI Mustang bodies But seriously, this reminds me of a quote from former Steelers LB Greg Lloyd. "When that guy lines up across from me, he's got two choices. Either step up his game, or get his @ss kicked all day." Anybody who wants to futher segregate the classes by moving the fast guys away from the rest (and make more classes) should read that quote. This is competition...not kiddie-league soccer where even last place gets a trophy. |
