I have to agree with the criticisms here. I've been to 5 Cleveland’s in a row. Every year it's "it will be better next year", every year it's worse. We couldn’t even stay to watch all the Mains because Sunday ran so long. For a lot of us, that’s a big part of the weekend.
The turnout was way down this year, and from the majority of people I talked to, it will be even smaller next year. Even the Mfg’s sent less people this year.
The race has a ton of History going for it.... unfortunately, not much else anymore.

Prolly needs a cut off number for all them damm 1/12th scale time consumers !!
I mean: Mains counts as follows
TC stock = E.5
TC Masters = C
TC 19 turn = E.5
TC Mod = B.5
1/12th Stock = H
1/12th 19 turn = H
1/12th Masters = D.5
Sticks me as a massive overdose of tiny cars!!
Slight tongue in cheek here chaps, but as impressive as the 1/12th turn out has become, it's certainly eaten up a bunch of time at the big races. I see it at club level where we now have 2/3 heats of tiny cars and all of a sudden you're getting calls from the missus and you're two hours late getting on the road home !!

THE RACE WAS FUN UNTIL PRACTICE STARTED
As a seasoned veteran of the Indoor Champs and many other races around the country, I just wanted to vent my frustrations about this past week's Indoor Champs. I know that after speaking to many others, I am not the only person who feels the following:
1) One of the challenges of the Champs was to have only 4 practices with no more time on the track. This time, however, we needed to take an extra day off work, spend more money on a hotel room, and still stay up the same amount of time for Thursday night late Practice. But the previous years' timeframe challenged you more because it gave you less down time, but challenged you MENTALLY and PHYSICALLY. This was part of the fun.
2) The hotel is in terrible shape. There are holes in the walls, the carpet is gross and the tv is ready to fall off the stand. The Vegas hotel is much nicer for the same price. It would be nice to see a better venue next year. 3) There was no announcement in the beginning of the A Main that there would be 15 minute breaks in between EVERY race. I understand the purpose was to give 19 turn guys time to change their cars out in order to race the other classes, but why not just reorder the classes? People had to change their flights because the Champs had always finished by 3-4pm in previous years; this year who knew when it would end. Also, in case nobody noticed, most people LEFT when their race was done, and none of the spectators wanted to stay all day. You could have heard crickets chirping in that ballroom by the time the last race came around, it was so empty.
4) The layout was AWESOME but something should have been done about the bumps in the carpet. There were several times when I TRIPLE DOUBLED the straight.
And finally, to the person who called Eli a 'sandbagger'. He deserves every right to be there. His Age Qualifies him for the class so why not race the class. Personally I don't enjoy getting beat by him every year, but that is racing. Next year bring your "A Game" and you might have a chance.
