I started rc car racing with a Tamiya 12th scale Newman Porsche 956

If I can find one in a reasonable state I would buy it.

+1 on the Falcon. The LHS would have a tub sitting on the counter every other time I walked in the door and they never were out of stock. :weird:

my very first car was from a company called royal they made rc motor cycles. it was the royal crusher monster truck electric with four wheel steering. i got that in 1988 when i was 2 from my dad for x-mas. he used to race alot at the time and wanted to get me started young.

Tamiya Blackfoot that I upgraded with ball bearings, Thorp gears and ball diff, a 13x1 Revtech, and a Novak T4. Simple times...

Associated 1/8th. scale pan car, built in 1977. Solid axle, and a spring steel front end. Still have it, and it still runs.

1986

Tamiya Grasshopper with a "Sanwa" dual stick radio. 15 minute timer charger and the old faithful "white brick" battery.

I then upgraded it with bearings, changed the speedo with a Tamiya 'Road Wizard" rheostat style speedo and installed a Tamiya Black Motor "Sprint".

At the time the speed of that car seemed awesome...LOL

I still have the old Grasshopper and Road Wizard for sentimental reasons. Both are still in good working order.

Started off with the Nikko Lobo 2 and Lobo 3 as a kid (2 was much better), then when I was 12 bought a used Tamiya Falcon all ready to run, the most fun I've had.. went through so many spiked tires on that one. Had a problem with the rear dogbones popping, though..

My first 'real' RC car was a TC4. I started this time last year, raced throughout the winter, and spring. Got a T2, spend a TON of money, sold some stuff, quit for the summer and fall, looking to get back into it now.
