As far as charging single cells it's a good thing in theory. Does it make a big difference I doubt it but when your looking for every bit of runtime it will not hurt. I think motor tuners/builders will figure it out.

One cool thing is to see Masami doing good with what looks like to be a Yokomo style motor. So much for the new style motors with round brushes and Aluminium endbells. Looks like older style motors can still get it done.

So do you think the older style motors have an advantage in this new battery format?

It loooks like the A-Mains are finished. Masami Hirosaka won A1 and A3, so I am guessing he won the race.

I think the older style motors have always been good but the hype and the fact that racers want something new has made them switch to the newer style. You may need less maintenance on the newer style motors which is why they have become popular as well but in high level competition motor maintenance isn't an issue.

It's not old motors it's just the fact that Yokomo hasn't changed there motor. I have asked one of the top motor builder/tuners and he told me that the he really didn't think that the newer style motors were much of an advantage. The big change has been in brush compounds.

congratulations to masami.

danny yup thats what im kinda trying to say. also maybe he is used to using reedy motors eversince plus the fact that yatabe arena is his home track that is why i think he is not having a hard time dialing his car.

any ideas why masami isnt running orion motors?

MASAMI run orion motor at IFMAR worlds due to the fact that he doesn't have his motor builder "Mike Reedy" thats the only reason he used orion motors at that race.

Congraturation MASAMI. He is always fastest, but lost 1st podium due to rain last year. But this year, yatebe area, no more rain, no more stop his winning. :-)
