Rubber Tires/Carpet Setup
Hey guys. I know some have been asking about some rubber tired carpet setups. I got to run my car on carpet for the first time last Saturday and here is what I found:
I used Todd Hodge's Reedy Race setup (posted below) as a starting point, front spool and all, and it seems to be a pretty good, easy to drive starting point. I made a few changes over the course of the day:
- Stood rear shocks all the way up (#3 hole on tower)
- 4-A rear camber link
- .040" rear sway bar
- Parma M body
I was running a CO27 stock motor, and RP30 tires. The car was very balanced and easy to drive. Still a work in progress, but like a said, a pretty good starting point. Seemed to have loads of grip. I seem to be migrating to something like Schreffler's Express race setup with my changes, so I may have to give that a try next time.

You still need the thrust bearing, just clean the diff rings really well for you don't want any grease there when you put the spool pulley in there. Assemble it like the regular diff but tighter.
