Grindog001, If I were in your situation I would get the Mi9 carbon version and then get the Schumacher alloy chassis (U8645). This way you can try both on carpet or tarmac. krazedbuilds makes very good products but I would not start out with a new car running a chassis from another manufacturer. I would want to see how the car works as designed first before I start changing things up.

Just wait for the alloy car yo come back into stock since the available option is being shot down.

I was just wondering if anyone has run the carbon on carpet. I know it's not going to be as good, but hopefully it could provide an ok starting point for both surfaces. I don't really want to change the chassis over each week, I was just curious if anyone had tried it.

it all depends on the traction level off the carpet a year or so ago i had the MI7 with an aluminum chassis and another MI7 with a carbon chassis at our carpet race here in florida and my carbon car was faster than my aluminum car .

Is this chassis supposed to be better or just a replacement?]

Is anybody else having a hard time finding places to put weight to get the Mi9 up to the ROAR legal weight? I have to add over 100 grams to get to 1320...and that's using a 6000 pack.

Robert Krens made a post using a set of cut shorty weights

you can mount weights directly under the rear gear diff outdrives in the front spool outdrives. additionally, you can place a weight strip in front and behind the amount

dawgmeat, yep I ended up adding weight under both the front spool and the rear diff outdrives....we'll see how that works. I feel like it's going to throw the handling of the car off but we'll see.. What confuses me is that if you look at all the setups from the Schumacher team they don't even really talk about where weight is located. Having to add 100g I would think should be a big deal and mentioned by the fast guys. Test day today so I can work on that..

Putting my car on balancing pins I found I had to add most of the weight under my receiver. Right behind my servo. Also added more weight under the rear diff outdrives. 10 grams on each side using the AMX round weights. Came in around 1330 total weight of car.

There is some weight information on the sheets, but it also depends on the electronics and bodyshell.

On my mod car I went with 49F/51R weight distribution and 50/50 left right. I added 95 gram to get to 1300

2x 5 grams screw weight in front of servo and battery
10 grams next to the servo (centerline)
33 grams battery weight
22 grams under the receiver
20 grams next to the esc under the belt (centerline)

I always try to add weight to the centerline, so for my stock car I ordered some tungsten weights so I can use the same positions and probably add some more in front of the servo to get 50F/50R balance.

First race with the new Mi9. Came from running an MTC2. Car worked great with the tarmac setup. As the day went on the car got better. The car was light so had to add weight under receiver and rear diff outdrives.
