No, it's yet another different iteration of the pogostick shocks. And if anything, the ones on the M05 were worse than the ones on the M03.

Wondering that myself.. no underneath shots yet.. Id assume yes since the M05 V2 added them, and all the new double wishbone arms have them

Well there are holes in the arms for droop screws, but no tab on the chassis? 🧐

Also 55D radials in front and 60D radials on the rear for the display car?

seems like the droop screw is on the upper A-arm.

The Abarth will be supplied with the split tyre sizes, so an aesthetic thing rather than a feature of the chassis.

it's interesting that they advertised a "high motor mount" position, which simply involves rotating the motor mount 90degrees.
I think it ends up sitting above the drive shaft, and solves the unbalanced weight problem... at the cost of super high CG.
Tamiya says the higher CG gives more traction, presumably due to rolling into the turns.
The driving dynamics will probably not be suitable for racing, but I'd love to bash it around

It is up on pre-order at Tower. Pricing is inline with M05/M06 kits.

What stops this one from being 4WD as well? I se no reason for that.

battery cuts straight through the middle, so a 4wd drive shaft can't be implemented

I still prefer the m07 or the m08r for tcs racing. This is another platform to drive the m-line but if that's the case I'll stick with the mf-01.

This isn't supposed to be the same sort of car as the M07 and M08. This is to replace the M05 and M06. Cheep cars. Cars for "keeping a pretty set of wheels and body in the same place" rather than "race car chassis you buy the competitive shell for".

The M07/M08 are small touring cars. The MB-01 is a good entry level hobby grade car.

The M05/M06 used to be the pinnacle of the class. And the M07 isn't that expensive once you factor in needing to buy bearings and oil filled shocks for the base M05. My M07 was both faster and cheaper than my M05 v2 R out of the box.

Only because they defined the class. The M05v2 had "some" racing ability. The M06 really never got worked over to be a useful touring car.

The M07 and M08 are very reasonably priced chassis. They're $180 ish? You get good shocks, oil filled diff, bearings, wheels, tires, a heavy duty servo saver, all of the adjustments you could want, and a sealed drivetrain.. which you don't get in the competitors cars. But they're $180, without body, motor, or ESC. Adding equal equipment you'd find on a M05/6 you're really looking at $250. If you're going racing, that's a heck of a deal. Definitely cheaper than all of the special edition M05's and M06's. I haven't tried lately, but I had a very expensive M05 back when I wanted a fast mini, before the M07 came out. Maybe $600? An embarassing amount of money.

Your typical M05 or M06 based kit, is around $150. And that includes a body, esc, and motor. Realisticly, a M05 or M06 is something closer to a $80 kit. I expect the MB-01 will also fill the same niche, potentially even cheaper. The MB-01 also bring droop adjustment to the cheap RWD platform, and better shock towers. I bet the MB01 will be better in general than the M06. But the wider chassis makes me think it might have some tub drag issues on high traction tracks.

... I will be buying one. Hah. And a set of 3 racing oil filled shocks.. and carbon shock towers.

(Also worth noting. I have M05 and M06 in my stable for driveway bashing. They're excellent for that.)
