You actually get MORE track time.
Unfortunately it didn’t say that in the Facebook post. It only said Triple A mains.

I liked the format and the pit stops were fun (though didn't have any chance to change results, really). But more track time?

Bay City - 5 min qualifier and three six minute mains = 23 minutes of track time.
MCRC - 3 min qualifier and three eight minute mains = 27 minutes of track time.
Normal three qualifiers and a main (all 6 min) = 24 minutes of track time.

F1 classes were probably significantly more track time with like 12 min or 15 min mains.

I had been looking forward to the pit stop thing. We consider it 5 years ago with the group I started with. Unfortunately, previous races I’ve done. When they run TripleAs it always cut out a round. Basically kept us B-C drivers around to marshal.

If you want track time there is a event being re-scheduled for The Gate and GT12-R. An enduro for three to four driver teams. Hours of track time. It was originally scheduled for 2 years ago but we all know what went down with that. Details are in the works.

I’ll be waiting for our new carpet track to open. 5 hours one way is currently outside my range.

I was told in Bay City that 6 minutes was what was wanted??

I would have liked to do 10 minutes at Mrcr but there was a concern with the amount of entries extending the day too long. But as you pointed out, it is more track time.

GT12 with fixed timing motors will easily go 12 min. Even at 8 minutes at MRCR, we came off with 3.95+ volts in our 4.2 volt 1s packs. Matty and I practice for 10 minutes with open motors and come off with 3.85+.

Last year we ran a 20 min main for GT12R for an event. (FT / Fixed Gear) I loved it! If I recall the 8000s were coming off around storage voltage.

That sounds like fun. I think all classes should be long enough to end with batteries at storage voltage. That should be the new RC standard.

I would check with the track you plan on running at.

Mrreet2001 is right. Check with your track on that one, but all I will say is that your pinion will be different depending on the layout, planned rollout, tire diameter and quite a few other variables

A few key factors missing. Rubber tire or foam, tire size, open 21.5 brushless or fixed timing 21.5 or some other motor type? We run rollout anywhere between 86mm and 115mm depending upon those factors. On my son's car with around 41mm rear tire diameter and 76 pinion, to get to 100mm rollout, you would need a 58 pinion. You may want to get some smaller spur gears if you need to go higher.

I'm sure it would go even longer than that. I would have liked to see the race length longer.
