Inexpensive Entry Level 1/10 EP Touring ?

Its always the same story. Don't buy off-brand if you intend to race. Find a used T4 and don't look back. Everything else is false economy. Racing is expensive and what you initially save on the car price will be quickly made up in broken parts, sourcing off-brand repair parts, and frustration in repairing/sourcing when you should be racing and having fun. I see it every few weeks at our track. New guy shows up with an off-brand, then eventually realises it sucks after assuring the club it's fine and he likes "racing something different." There are about to be a bunch of used 2018-2021 T4's dumped on the market (with copious spare parts). Wait a few weeks and grab one of those and you'll be much further ahead.
*Xrays come with excellent manuals. If you don't get a manual with the kit they are available online plus lots of great videos on building and set-up. Honestly I hate to sound like a fanboy but its the only way to go.

Xpress has been around since the 90s. Making it a much older brand than Xray. Sakura is a brand under 3racing which has been around for ages and is probably the biggest rc after market brand on this side of the world. SNRC has its share of race wins and following in Asia and Australia.
No doubt Xray is one of the most well known cars and is quality built, but calling the other suggested cars off brands is quite misinformed...

I don't think any of the other brands mentioned here are off brands. They are just brands with a different name from Xray.

Don't know about the current availability of $150 Xray chassis but they have been teasing the new touring car and many anticipate the X4 will be available in the next 1-1.5 months. That will trigger a ton of T4 chassis going on the for sale threads as people upgrade. I'd stay '17 and newer I think older than that and there were some parts differences that affect reliability.

I find it much easier to get Xpress parts in Australia than it is to get Xray. Most hobby shops don't bother dealing with the Xray distributor anymore if they can avoid it.

That may be the case but once again that doesnt mean they are off brands. We have no xray dealers in our country. Wr have kyosho, yokomo, serpent, snrc, vbc, arc and sakura. The only way to get xray kits and parts are via international online stores. But that doesn't give me the right to call the xray an off brand simply because it has no brand presence on this side of the world.

Xpress and 3racing both have a local dealer in Florida via RaceVTA.com and the guy that runs it is on the forums quite frequently interacting with those cars. I own 3 3racing cars and never worry about parts being in stock or not.

Yep. 2 day shipping might as well be down the street. I just go to work a couple times, forget about it then I'll have a box of Xpress parts waiting for me at home. MoparSRT is a great guy to order from. Going to order again real soon.

Hi All,
What car would you recommend for an inexpensive entry-level 1/10 Touring Car?
I have heard that the Xpress Execute XQ2S is of higher quality but the kit includes fewer parts.
I have thought about a used Xray T4 but I don't know enough to repair any issues.
Thank you !
Cheers

That's what I do with Gravity tires, I've been buying them from the LHS 45 mins away. It's on the way home from the track 😊.
