I was a little skeptical about the novak recommendation of a 4.0 FDR, but finally broke down and tried it. 4.8 seemed sluggish to me and didn't seem to compete well with the normal sintered rotors... at a 4.0 it seemed to be back on pace. Although I'm only an intermediate driver at best that was a little much for me so I backed off to around a 4.3 - 4.4 which seemed more comfortable. Guess what I'm pointing out is you can really gear that rotor!! Try some different combos to see what you like but don't be afraid to try a 4.0.

Nuno,
The best way is you built yourself a small spread sheet with some pinion and spur options to carry to the track.
You have to distribute some pinions in the column A and some spurs in row 2. In each field you enter a formula “=$B$2/A1*$F$1” where “$B$2” is one spur, “A1” is one pinion and “$F$1” is the TC5 final ratio 2.0.
......................................2,0
Pin/Spur 75 | 78 | 81 | 83 | etc
19
20
21
etc

ehehe
Another question: to obtain FDR of 4.5 i need a 72/35 (48pitch). Is it better to change for a 64pitch spur/pinion gear?
See you in Sintra.
Thanks,
Nuno

GEARCHART!
Go to www.gearchart.com and just pick what car your using and you can print any chart for any gear ratio and it also has rollout. Then just print out the chart!

Also, it’s easier to get the right play between pinions and spur at least for my eyes.

Here is a link to my setups and a gear ratio chart (excell format) for the TC5. You can edit it as you need.

hello,
What i want to ask is: is it better to use such a small spur to obtain FDR 4.5 on a 9.5T motor (72/32 using 48pitch) or is it better to change for larger 96/43 using a 64pitch spur/pinion?
The track were i usually run is large..
Thanks,
Nuno

Large spur small pinion vs. small spur large pinion!??
Correct me if I'm wrong!

I run a 10.5 brushless with 64 pitch and I've ran a large spur with a small pinion and then switched to the small spur with a larger pinion.I don't think there is any measureable change that I can tell one way or the other as long as you end up with the same FDR! If there is I couldn't tell!

But, I believe that using the smaller Pinion gives a tad more torque and the larger Pinion would be Smoother. Now, I can be wrong but I doubt it.

2 TC5's forsale
Hi all
Don't mean to highjack the thread but I have 2 FT TC5's forsale. Not alot of spares with them. Both have diggity designs 6 degree aluminum caster blocks. Full spring kit and some front and rear arms, shock rebuild kit.
Anyone interested in these cars LMK by PM or email.
Asking $270 each.
Thought this would be a good place to try and sell.
