I had basically made up my mind I was going to go with smc for both esc & motor - but noticed esc said was rated for 4-6s only and now price is slightly higher & saying preorder so I emailed them & he said it there was high demand for 2&3s also so they're putting in new bec to accommodate 2-6s and not expecting until hopefully May. I cannot wait that long...would kill me to have new buggy with everything in it ready to go and be waiting on esc. So I think I've narrowed it down to tekin rx8 gen2 or gen3 & hw xr8 sct for esc. Just don't know if tekin is worth the price difference?? Can get gen2 w/motor combo for around $275 but kind of hate buying something that I know a newer version is now available but bc the gen3 is newer & they don't have combo it's going to costs around $320. I've heard A LOT of rave reviews on the smc motor so know I could still get a tekin esc & smc motor & save a little but think with options avail for buggy it's hard to look past the hw xr8 sct with the smc motor & would be around $175. Thoughts on these setup options & price difference? Thanks again for everyone's suggestions & input!

Cain...You would have to unplug from the receiver and plug into the box.

Overthetop...so are you planning on running an 1/8 buggy on something other than 4s or 6s batteries? Never thought about running anything other than 4s myself.

I will be giving SMC a whirl this year. For the people that like to tinker with their esc you can just add a splitter between the esc and rx. Unplug the esc from splitter then plug esc into program box. But really how often do you tinker?
I understand why it was done. But personally I rather have the caps mounted to the esc. This is what I came up with.
Edit... I really like the on/off switch. Well for now. Lol. Let's see how it holds up.

There is someone selling 2 up on ebay right now that are listed as new.

For the money I know guys were quite happy with the first version of the HW SCT pro so I don't see why the second would be any different in 1/8 e buggy usage.

I got a feeler out for 2 EB48SLs, but, still looking at the EB48.4. really want to check one out in person!

Nothing any higher than 4s that's why I feel the hw xr8 sct 140a that is for 2-4s would be perfectly fine in a buggy. I have kids & just thought if they ever wanted to run it I could power it down some with a 3s. I know some say can just do with esc adjustments, transmitter epa, etc...would just be nice to have that option.

Is it just me...or does it seem like bad business to be advertising your product in stock/or available for order on Tekno's site....while having suppliers with delayed pending pre-orders/backorders on sites like Tower and Amain......

Kinda feels like they are saying...

"hey guys that ordered our products months ago...we're going to go ahead and let anyone who orders on our site cut in line in front of you and ship next week."

Im sure they are going to give the dealers their orders first. I think thats why there were only so many left to pre order?

I think it's just you. In a previous post, one of the guys from Tekno said that they fulfill all their dealer orders first, then sell on their site what they have left. The cars they have on their site are for pre-order just like everyone else's site right now. Everyone is in the same boat.

Like Matt just said above you guys. (In case you guys don't know, Matt IS a person within TeknoRC, and has intimate knowledge that you can count on)

The shipment comes in, they then satisfy all retailer orders, and they then post the available quantities on their site.

They cannot, and do not control how Tower or any other retailer handles their inventory or customers.

Oh, and last I looked about 2 hours ago, fiercercsolutions.com still has 9 marked as available to pre-order. That means out of the shipment they are expecting next week, there is 9 left unspoken for.

You can either play the tower/amain games, or go claim one the Fierces so you know your getting one. when it hit's 0, they're gone.
