Bob B 8/10/17 - Should I start with the kit setup?
The kit setup is a great place to start. One other option that many of us start with is Joe's rough track setup. You can find that setup here
In order to run it you need 3x2.1 pistons and 3x2.0 pistons. (They are marked on the sheet as 3.1 and 3.0).

Matt W 7/7/17 - What is overdrive and when should I use it?
The NB48.4 comes stock with a 12t pinion (TKR8152) and the 39t ring (TKR8151) in both the front and rear and the EB48.4 has a 12t pinion (TKR8152B) and the 40t ring (TKR8151B) in both the front and rear.

The two sets of gears are used to overdrive the front of the EBs or underdrive the rear of the NBs. If you have both vehicles and want to try underdrive it's as easy as swapping the front diff and pinion of the EB and the rear diff and pinion of the NB. Underdrive helps on very loose tracks, when you need more on power steering or if the rear of the car feels loose.

Tips and Tricks
Setup Sheets:
Setup sheets for all Tekno RC vehicles can be found here. Please be sure to try our recommended setup. It works very well on most tracks.

Warranty Policy:

Tekno RC is the only company in the industry that will give 50% off of parts if returned to them using the General Warranty return policy found on their website. The parts can be lightly used or completely abused, as long as the part is still being produced it's covered!

Piston Drills:

Some of our setups recommend using pistons that are enlarged. For instance 4x1.9 or 3x2.0. To drill the pistons we recommend the following:
GMK Supply Piston Drill Set
16PC Metric Bit Set Metric Sizes 2.00 to 3.00 MM.

Lot of factors driving demand of this rig. I would say its the new kit that is wining some races and everyone wants to try something new this year. I would call this the breakout year for Tekno. A different buggy suspension than others have right now that seems to be working certainly grabs our attention as well.

Excellent factory drivers who share info and make time to help you track side and online is a big deal. Others may do this with videos and such, but I have not seen the big names do as much track side lately.

The downside, Tekno will have a hard time continuing to put out updated buggies freqently as it has in the past after they grow into a top mass produced brand. Its great for the company, but might not be for us. I hope that never happens, but not sure you can do anything to stop it as they start selling 10 times the quantity of rigs while keeping prices in check. JMHO

Good points and after reading what I posted I didn't mean for it to come off negative sounding, can't wait to get mine in.

Not taken as negative. I would say it sure is a good thing for Tekno.

Any info on what oil wts. they are running with those pistons or are they sticking pretty close to the 450 rear and 550 front?

Just follow the setup sheet's they have. I'm personally just running 3x2.1's on all 4 corners, and keeping the 75-100cst gap

general rule of thumb for the .3 was if you ran the 4x1.8 you ran 425cst front and 475cst rear. If you ran the 3x2.1 you ran 700cst front and 750cst rear. We were told that the .4 likes softer setups, so I would expect the oils to be slightly thinner for the .4

Check out Ryan's and Joe's rough track setup. They use the 3 hole pistons in these setups.

Question regarding the older 1 hole aluminum servo horns, is that horn like the inner or outer hole in the newer horn?

Hello, everyone. First time poster here. I used to be into RC a long, long time ago, but I want to get back in. I want a 4x4 e-buggy, 1/8 scale. I'm deciding between the Tekno EB48.4 and the Team Associated RC8b3e. I have watched a ton of youtube videos on the 1/8th scale class, and read a few articles. I really like what I see from Tekno. Versus the RC8b3e, it looks like 1) it has better suspension and shocks, 2) way better diff's - I don't want to have to buy a car and then want to change the shocks and diffs right out of the box. The RC8 does seem to be a bit more 'calm' and stable than the Tekno, but the Tekno really really eats up the big jumps, which I like. Does anyone have any opinions on the 2 buggies or a list of their own Pro's / Con's when comparing the 2? Much appreciated.

I'd think that Tekno has a better idea of when they will be arriving at this point?!?!
