So far on my bumpy dirt track I am running: 20mm ride height, 7k-200k-5k, long rear shock tower with 31mm shock bodies, flipped over the pills so it's 1 degree up for A block and 1 degree down fore B block. The rest is stock except for aluminum steering rack and servo horn.

Look at the setup sheet from Ray Munday on the AE website for a proper outdoor starting point.

I'd suggest 150mm to have enough slack.

With 10k up front it's likely not your diff oil causing the issue. Run a stiffer front spring (I've been running red fronts), and also lay the front shocks down to the inside hole on the top shock tower mounting location. That will give the steering a more progressive and mellow feel.

Also, dropping your rear diff oil probably wouldn't have helped your issue of being darty. Lighter oil would make the diff more loose and give that end of the car more rotation.

Are SMC ESC/Motor any good for this car? I'm not looking to win out as I'm still a rookie. The only classes we have here are 13.5 and mod.

I haven't ran them myself but SMC makes quality stuff and I have heard from others their motors and ESC's are good at a nice price to boot. They should serve you well and if you're just starting out your motor and esc aren't going to be your limiting factors. Keep it on all 4 wheels consistently and then getting faster comes more naturally. 13.5 is a great starting point for 4wd. Have fun!

I got all the screws into the front gear box except the 2 16mm ones that screw into the front they just will not catch. should I take all the screws out and put those in first. Any other ideas ?

At least loosen the others and that should work. I try to get all screws started before tightening everything down.

I have 2 10th scale smc esc/motor combos and they work flawlessly. They also have a unbeatable warranty. Buy w/ confidence

Never had a problem with anything from SMC

Kit went together well. Not a single issue. I drug my feet watching tv the entire time (californication marathon) and took about 5 hours til I was driving around breaking in the diffs. I ended up using a 1258 steering servo, V3.1 esc, and a tekin 8.5 for now while I get used to it and decide how much or how little motor I want to run in it for good. Stock setup aside from 5k in the rear diff since it's so easy to change out fluids. This is a very Maintenance friendly kit, four screws for any diff? Can't beat it. I'll take it to the track in the morning and run it in and see what I like and down like, was planning on doing it today but didn't feel like rushing to get it built.

Gratuitous pic with its big and little brothers (mbx6 will be replaced by a b3.1e when it hits the store).

anybody have any wishlist items for the B64?

Me personally, I want double joint front drive shafts so I can eliminate the chattering I'm getting on throttle at full turn

Becauses this has been an issue right from the time the kit was released, and reading about it here first, when I got my kit, I tapped all the holes in the gearbox first with a M3 tap. It's not perfect because my tap have a tapered end so you can't tap to the full depth of the hole, but it really helped. Also used a power driver to help.

A tap bit also helps for the shock eyelets, ball cups ( you'll need both RH & LH Taps for ball cups) and any other holes that are hard to start and align.

I get the kit tomorrow but I'll start building on Wednesday after work.
