Thanks. The batteries aren't that old but they must be dropping below 3v under load. One has had about 50 charges but the other has only had about 20. My third higher cap one has only had about 10 charges and does the same; it's 5000mah and 50c.
They all currently have 7.5v in them today after being used!!?? That's higher than the labelled voltage on them. I have gone mad and ordered new anything that is worn and ordered a HW3660 3600kv.
My other car is a lighter sct (Helion 10sc select four) with a 3500kv motor and lasts 15mins or more on a charge and is nearly as quick around the track apart from it breaks nearly every time I crash it.
If I want the same speed as my current 4000kv motor in the scte with the new motor I will get an 18t pinion and it will then be about 3% faster than current. I only can floor it for a second on our track so actually the 10% reduction in speed may be a blessing.

Let's see if all my problems are solved with this new motor..
I'd rather not have to depend on the highest spec batts to get by as I'd rather the batts not have to work so hard (pipe dream?)

Yeah. It seems pretty weird to me.
My cv joints on Fr and rr are both VERY worn so if this new motor doesn't fix it I'll be rebuilding both ends of the car. There's no resistance in them that I can tell but under load there probably is.

Due to the size and weight, I use a 1/8-scale ESC in mine - Tekin RX8 Gen3; also opted for a Pro4HD motor, for the extra torque of the 550-size can. Haven't had issues with either since I bought them 2 years ago.

As far as batteries? After doing this for over 30 years, I've determined one thing: Don't Scrimp On The Batteries. I bought a pair of Protek 8500 2S 100C SG LiHV full-length packs two years ago, and haven't had to worry about it since.

Well I got a new battery 7500mah and 90c by turnigy and that has pretty much solved all my problems.
I also go a HW 3660 3600kv motor. It is exactly as quick as the Tekin pro4 4000kv but doesn't even get warm nevermind hot!! I'm pleased with my two purchases.

Does anyone have an actual shock oil cst/wt recommendation for the scte in temperatures around freezing point?

A couple months ago I ran in cold conditions about 40 degrees and went to 30f/25r to get static pack where I wanted it with stock pistons.

That's what I run normally. I have the 4 hole 1.1 pistons, not sure if that is stock or not. The fluid is by Associated if that helps. Around 40F there was no grip and the rebound was in slow motion. It taken seconds!

Yah I run 5x1.0 front and 5x1.1 rear. Either change pistons or go with bigger holes if you want to stay with 4 hole pistons.

So being this truck is coming up on 4 years old, will we see a 4.0? Or has SC past it’s peak and this will be it for TLR?

Been wondering the same thing myself. Seems the market for highend 4x4 SCTs must have dried up? I just rebuilt mine and taking it to the track regularly. Least they are still making the parts and the kits as I really enjoy them. Was able to comfortably upgrade my Rtr 2.0 to almost full 3.0 specs pretty easily over the lockdown.

i just ordered mine last week and picked up a couple of days ago (support your local hobby shops). this is my first SCT. it seems in my area there are still plenty of people racing SCT/PRO4. i'm within an hour of both indoor and outdoors tracks that have a large SCT following. i'm really pretty hyped to get this kit built and ready to go.

finishing it with Maclan MMax8 esc, Maclan MR4 3500 (indoor, 4150 outdoor) motor, Maclan 2S V3 HV 8500 battery, Protek 170SBL servo, MRX-482 receiver, and JConcepts wheels/tires.

also ordered the kyosho xgs orange truck springs, alum rear bearing holders, tlr alum front top plate, and tlr alum servo horn. should be fast and durable once i get her together.

VERY nice. I kinda wish I had just bought the kit instead of upgrading. All together with the original RTR i got, I paid WELL over the full kit price.

Let me know how you like the MMax8. I just picked up the hobbywing SCT pro with the 3660kv motor. Doesnt quite have enough oomph, tho i havent programmed it yet and only on a 15t pinion. But its smooth as hell.

4600 usually uses a 13-15 pinion. 4300 a 15-17. With a 3660 you’ll need more pinion to get decent speeds.
