I have been racing the 8ight at the local track. It's a smaller tight track that's fairly technical with medium grip that tends to improve as the race night goes on. Most people with 8ights run the stock setup. A veteran racer recently got an MBX8 Eco and let me drive it around the track. I was shocked how much easier it was to drive through the turns. Basically you can be on power through the whole track, where with the 8ight you have to brake and roll through some turns. My point is not to say the MBX8 is better, but what setup changes can I make to aid this? How do I allow myself to be on power more through the turns without the back end coming around or over shooting the turn?

Thanks for any help or advice.
I always adjust front camber first if I need more steering. I will go from -2 to -3 degrees and that usually does the trick. If not, I’ll go from a 2.3 rear sway to a 2.5 rear sway. I recently went with a stiffer rear spring that gave me more steering. A stiffer front sway bar gave me almost too much steering but it is an option and does work. There are many things you do though to get the steering you speak of.

LMFAO......It was missing a suspension arm screw. I was so frustrated, I didn't even want to enter the summer series. Got out of 1/8 and ran scte......i put all the electronics back on and hit the track last night, didn't even make a lap. The drive shaft popped out and I was so mad. Went home and looked at everything again....and there it was. It was missing a screw all along. Replaced it and went back to the track today. I killed it......fell back in love. I guess I need to relax and really look over the car, lesson learned.

These cars are so powerful it really doesn't take much to blow them apart. I had a center diff mount go loose and all hell followed. Lost an RX8 over that, expensive lesson.

It happens. We learn from our mistakes and try not to do it again

So I just put new electronics in my buggy. Castle 2200KV sensored motor and a hobby wing XR8 Plus ESC. Running the stock spur and an 18 tooth pinion. My issue is that after a couple speed runs in my neighborhood my center diff melted. Any recommendations to not have this happen again? Smaller pinion?

Yes go smaller pinion 15 and metal center spur gear also the 2200 motor is a hot motor for a buggy 1900 is better on the buggy it will run cooler and you can gear up if you want to go fast with the 1900 but if you are running in the street go with metal spur

Thanks. I’ll try the smaller pinion. I also run at an indoor clay track so looking for a happy medium. I didn’t know Losi offered a metal spur option. I’ll have to look into that.

I use the metal spur for racing, but the plastic has held up fine for my basher. I run a 1900 motor, 13 pinion, and Badland tires. this is one fun rig.

+1 on the plastic spur. Even use it for racing. Haven't needed to swap it out to the metal.

Short vs long akerman. I need more shape corner steering.

I run on a tight track with shape turns, I'm more of an aggressive driver and it wasn't making the sharp turns the way I wanted it to. Went to the track earlier and replaced the long akerman with a short one, that did the trick.

So for indoor racing the shorter ackerman is preferred?
