For reference, Barry Baker was running an SL at 7lbs for quite a while indoors. It held up just fine (I think he won the JBRL series with it that year), but keep an eye on things if you are outdoors in dustier conditions.

cool thanks! I know you probably can't comment direct on the EB48.3, but I am pretty much debating that versus an EB48SL.3 depending on when the former will be available.

Maybe someone came pm me some info to help me make a decision?

Curious if the can the weight down enough for pro4HD & 2s batteries to make a 8-10 Min main?

Depending on track and cooling, 8 should be possible with the current crop of large 2s packs, though you'll definitely see fade by the end. 10 I doubt, as I'd probably have a hard time doing that with my SC these days with how hard I drive it. If you're really easy on throttle and tend to coast into a turn instead of brake into it, then it might work though.

I think the biggest thing to factor is if you are competing at the same electronics level as others for the 10 min main. If everyone else is running say 4S and appropriate kv motor, you will be at a disadvantage as the main goes long.

If i was going to race one of these, I would run a Tekin Pro4 HD 1850 with a protek 3500 4 cell (Size of a 2 cell) I have seen this setup in person with the pro8, it is very fast and can go 10 minutes.

+1. If you cut up all the plastic bits and use aluminum screws, turnbuckles, etc., you should be able to just use a non-HD pro4 as well.
I contacted SMC about doing a 4 cell shorty, 4s1p 2200mah pack but haven't heard back. I run a 2s2p 4400 SMC in my SC so running it in a 4s configuration would be awesome.

well, I think I am pretty set on my mind to go with the eb48sl.3 if it becomes available here.

I'll probably use my regular buggy gear, a Viper VTX8 and there VF1900kv motor.

am I correct in assuming I need these items:

- Regular motor cam
- Buggy sized straps

I think that's about it?

Depending on the dia. of that motor you might be able to use the LCG motor mount. You'd have to grind the mudguard where the screw goes through (and obviously remove the screw) but it might fit.
As for the battery straps you'll prolly need the buggy ones unless you're running a smaller 4s pack. I use the SC straps with my ECOPower 4s packs, they're just long enough for that pack.

Working on building a SL with the spares I currently have and would like some advice from others who have built or run them. Here is what I am planning / contemplating at the moment.
-BCE chassis
-RX8 with PRO4HD 4300 on 2S 7200Mah SMC batteries / not sure what other motor battery combo I should try for a 10 min main
-carbon fiber towers
-SCT410 lightened outdrives
-SCT410 tapered front Drive shaft / rear drive shaft
-LCG motor mount/plastic rear center diff support
-Would like to go with the stock EB48 A arms, hubs and axles for improved bearing diameter and a wider stance or is this a mistake and will add too much weight?
-Aluminum ball / rod ends
-Alumium screws - strategically placed
-Titanium turnbuckles (Lunsford)
Where did I go wrong or need to make changes?

I believe that the BCE chassis is no longer available, unless you already have one or plan on buying one used.

I'm thinking of building one up with a pro4 1850/rx8 combo that I have sitting around and all alloy screws etc with SMC 4s 4600 shorties.

I have two of the BCE chassis sitting idle currently, I also have a new Pro4HD 4300 sitting in a box, but after some thought think the 1850 is probably the way to go. Now I have to find batteries that will last and are light enough...

Anyone else use the EB48 arms, axles and hubs instead of the SCT410 gear? pro's cons?

I've been running an EB48.2 that I lighten the center driveline of. For the arms to not take as much extra weight, I run the arms from the EB48 (not the extra tough ones). I like using the full EB48 corners because of the extra heft and not needing to replace CVD pins and such anywhere near as often. To make 10 minutes would be a challenge on 2s, not likely because of battery use (7600 is easy to get now), but because of heat. Using a 4s setup with a light 4s pack (2s stick size or shorty brick size) should work out well for a powerplant to do 10 minutes, though we run ours here on 2s and 5 minute mains.
