So here is my plan and I’m looking for any type of input or suggestions. I want to build a rally car using the sct410.3 setup. Figured I’d use a Delta body (I see people use them on their slash 4x4’s ) and they fit pretty well. Not super concerned about the scale appearance but more so want a vehicle that can handle on road but also light off road. I’ve owned every purpose built rally out there and they always leave a lot to be desired.

has anyone done an on road setup with the sct410? Or rally?

thanks

People have converted the NB48 and EB48 into GT8 cars with good success. I would search for those for ideas on your SC. The biggest problem people run into is that off-road cars have a lot more caster and kick-up than is desired for on-road.

I would personally look at an et410 converted to sct for this purpose. Much lighter, probably handle better on road. You may even be able to find a shorter WB body to fit the stock chassis. Throw on an EB410 rear tower and rear shocks (Maybe the fronts, too) for a lower profile for the body.

Thanks for he suggestions. I just picked up a new tekno EB48SL Buggy. Will start a build thread once I get an official plan and parts start coming in. Take care.

So managed to sell my Slash and bough a new SCT 410.3

At the same time ordered the new aluminum hinge blocks complete set, the metal diff pins and the .4 steering. Later on I will see what else is needed to change.

Check the WiKi at the beginning of the thread if you haven’t already. Shows recommended setup and parts list.

I did read the Wiki several times, thanks for the heads up.

I do say this though, if upgrading to the .4 steering system, you will need a 45x4mm turnbuckle.

You don't have to purchase new turnbuckles. Just grind/cut 3mm from each end of the stock turnbuckles.

Yes I had a set of Serpent turnbuckles which are 50mm long while the SCT are 56mm long. The Serpent ones helped, but it still needs to be slightly shorter. Which in essence the 50mm is the width that you are saying to have after chopping 3mm from each side.

No, and I didn't have to grind it either. I just cranked it down and it was short enough for my setup. I asked a guy at the track this same question and followed his suggestion. It worked.

Hi guys, I drive for the Tekno UK SCT team, Team Kirk,

This is almost what I run on Astro, - it depends on the condition - if its a 1/8th track I drop the shock oils to cope with the bumps and build the shocks with bladders as it helps the car jump better,

Key thing on astro is to try and get rid of as much of the steering as possible, hence the mahoosive 3mm anti roll bar, we also cut many rows off the front tyres, depending on the track tightness you can move the steering akerman links further forward for a much more direct and agressive steering and back for more relaxed feel,

Finally - depending on tyres this truck really likes some negative camber, I've been running on Proline pinpoints and ran 4deg before and the thing was on rails. I think because of the profile of the tyres and the fact its a big heavy SCT the roll characteristics dynamically change the camber more in the bend (than say a normal 4wd 1/10th scale) so the 4 degree camber helps get more of the pins on the astro generating more grip if that makes sense!

Hope this helps!
Tristan

Edit - well because I am a new member I cant upload any pics yet so if anyone wants setups just message me and I'll get them to you somehow!

Cheers

Is the sct410.3 and eb48SL similar in terms of components? Like do they all have the same diffs etc? Or does the sct410.3 have more updated parts?

The only differences are the stub axles, hexes, and SC specific parts (body mounts, bumpers, etc.). Otherwise the kits are the same.

Default Pics of jc hi flo 2 bodies? Front rear and top please

Have the hi flo 2 body and wanting to see detailed mounted pics. Where it seems to be best under full compression, the rear posts aren’t in a flat spot with front bumper just inside of body.

amdQUOTE=Matthew_Armeni;15494541]One of the best handling bodies we've found is Losi Racing Hi Performance Pre-Cut Body, TLR8061. The other one we like is the JConcepts Illuzion Hi Flow. There are two versions of that , standard and lightweight, JCO0222 and JCO0222L. Jconcepts also has a second gen of the High Flow and I've yet to run it, but given how good the original is it's a safe bet it's as good or better.[/QUOTE]
