Did you do a comparison between how the 10 x 1.2mm pistons felt versus the 8 x 1.4s you made? If so, what were you thoughts on comparing the two?
As it sits for me I can make some 8 x 1.4s out of the stock pistons (seal and drill) but I am curious as I am running carpet if the 10 x 1.2s would be a better setup.
Thinking of putting the setup on my daughters car as much as possible and testing it that way

My truck is not in that video... that was from 2 weeks ago.
Pistons... on my previous set-up I was running 6x1.5 piston with the taper up and green springs. Fronts 35w out on the arm and #4 on the tower. Rears 30w in on the arms and #3 on the tower. I was running 40/35 in the summer. Truck felt really planted on the track.
New set-up has the 8x1.4 pistons with the taper down and black fronts (35w), green rear (25w). Fronts out on the arms and #2 on the tower, Rears in on the arms and #1 on the tower... surprisingly, completely different shock set up and yet it feels the same on the track. Really hugs the track and feels planted.
About set-ups... It took me a long time to get my set-up where it felt good to me. I was questioning it a few weeks ago and let a couple of the fast guys drive my truck... I have never seen my truck go so fast around the track LOL. They answered my question of "how does it feel" with "your truck is hooked up... don't change a thing".
A friend has recently got back into the hobby with a used 410.3 and I gave him a copy of my old set up sheet with directions to follow ALL of the set-up... well, he has only made a couple of the changes and complained last night that his truck did not feel right... loose and erratic on the track... all I could tell him is he has to make all of the changes to make it work as one.
I think the same goes for this new set-up with the steering and the shocks and the sweep and the anti squat... you have to make all of them to make get the benefit.
And yes... we have a killer track here in TX... !!!

Setup
Do you think the new setup would work well for loose/loamy out door tracks. Unfortunately we dont have the type of indoor tracks the US has here in Australia.
I drove my tekno for thr first time this weekend after building and followed Randy Cathcarts set up for loose/ loamy. I also run the hrc rear hubs and 1/8 wheels. The truck handles superb and jumps awesome. I can hardly fault it. Im running a xr10 pro 160 amp esc and hobby king 2 pole 550, 5 turn. It flies...
Just wondering if this new set up would compare on out door loose tracks.

I just got the new eb48.4 emulsion caps today and i'm gonna rebuild the shocks for a race on Friday. I'll let ya know how the tapered down 8x1.4 pistons feel compated to the 10 * 1.2mms.

I think the Jesse Munn setup is quite nice, a lot of the linkage setups are similar. Outside of the steering components and maybe the 10 x 1.2mm pistons I am seriously thinking of just putting it on my daughters truck and see, with maybe slight carpet changes but the big thing I am thinking that could matter a lot here would be in comparison to the Jesse Munn ones would be:
- Amount Toe (use the Munn setup or even less)
- Diffs from new standard
Last time working on another 4wd sct I really noticed a nice diff in traction issues going up on the diff fluid.
Also need to utilize some steering stops, I think that can help a lot too.

Was about 158 using 17 tooth pinion, stock spur, fan and heat sink on motor. This was on a fairly warm day and about a 8 min run

back when I was using a 1/10 speedo, the Speed Passion GT2.0 Pro the Hobbywing 4000KV 3656SD motor worked fine on it. Just had to play with the punch settings. The ESCs now should be better, so personally, I would think the same motor would work quite well these days.

Wish we had indoor tracks like that here!
4x4 sct is not popular here in Australia. In fact at my local clubs they dont run them as the excuse is either-
There is not enough interest or members with them.
They are too expensive to maintain and run and they dont want that to be the case for members. (Maybe if you own a losi or Ae)
Or the other is they wreck the tracks. (Its all 1/10 2wd and 4wd buggy here)
There is now enough of us with Teknos to start a 4x4 sct class. Hopefully they let us race them when we approach them at start of new race season

The big thing I see is that the 4x4 SCT is basically a light 1/8 buggy. So you need to keep that in mind relative to say landing carpet, etc. if it could damage the track. I don't know about astro though if its a concern at all.
To be honest if you guys are starting a 4x4 SCT class, my suggestion would be look into a common Kv rating you guys can agree on that can limit the amount of wear on tires you see. You may find that having a Kv rating that fits well as almost a spec speed could bring more people into the class.
We out here actually have guys, myself included, that start our kids on 4x4 SCTs do to the fact they can take a beating. We end up limiting the motor power basically via EPA and let them go at it. When I see that, it makes me wonder if 4x4 SCT could benefit from say a true spec motor. like say a 2200kv tp 2400kv motor or so on 2S.

Yeah they are definitely lighter than 1/8 buggies.
We will suggest we all be running 2s and no limitation on motor. Also no 1/8 size wheels which I currently run. The thing is a hoot to drive on 1/8 wheels!
