The Durango vid for changing the pinion is wrong. The small screw(2mm countersunk) next to the 2mm round head they show to use, is the better screw to use for changing pinions. Once you use that screw it is easy to make adjustments.

I am having a problem with the right side steering linkage being way to loose. The left hand side is just fine. I know it needs to be tighter, but just can't figure out what to do, and it is too cold to go in the garage right now.

Looks like the vehicle does come with piston blanks. I think I'll see if I have any in the box and make some custom 6 hole pistons as I do have the drill tools.

Here is some highlights from the 4wd a-main. Mine is the black and white crow body. Took a good shot against the pole towards the end lol.

please can you express how you pluged the holes in the piston and give me a description on how to pack the pistons

I am almost sure that the kit came with "blank" pistons so you can customize to your set-up needs. All you will need is a dremel or a small drill and tiny drill bits.

Mines are loose also. Really loose but I have very minimal steering play. I think the only way to fix loose links meaning that they are wore out is to replace the link ends with new ones.

I will be trying a new approach as far a sway bar goes. I am running the white one up front (2.1mm) and the Red in the rear (2.8mm). and moved the shocks in in the rear. Also shorten the wheelbase by 1mm.

Looks smooth around the track, except for when you nailed that pole. LOL

Has anyone done a spring comparison chart with other manufacturers to drop ride height while staying with same rate springs?
Last race I went to a Losi 8ight spring set up (silver front, red rears) and I was able to get ride height down to 20mm which was huge in keeping the traction rolls down. Still looking for some more fine tuning but I was half a second a lap faster due to that on ozite.

lol yeah, that pole just had to get in the way lol.

I had the servo saver backing out on me so towards the end of the main it was getting hard to anticipate the steering. I was also watching for traction roll. But going to the stiffer swaybar setup did help a lot. I'll probably go back to the rear toe I was using before. didn't notice an appreciable gain in rotate freeness I was looking for and I want to try what platgof is saying about pistons.

speaking of which, with the piston blanks I'll just line them up to the stockers and drill I am thinking or at least mark and drill if they don't have any indents. Are the stock pistons coned, etc. at all in the piston holes?

here is what I came up with:

Code:
Part # Length	Color	GF/MM	LBS/IN
TD330778	70mm	blue	68	3.81
TD330779	70mm	green	75	4.20
TD330780	70mm	yellow	80	4.48
TD330781	70mm	red	85	4.76
TD330872	84mm	blue	52	2.91
TD330783	84mm	green	57	3.19
TD330784	84mm	yellow	62	3.47
TD330785	84mm	red	66	3.70
TD330786	84mm	black	72	4.03
TD330814	75mm	blue	73	4.09
TD330815	75mm	yellow	80	4.48
TD330816	75mm	red	88	4.93
Do you have part # for the losi springs you mentioned?

When you plug the holes, you are "packing" the piston, decreasing oil flow, and decreasing the chance of rolling. Put super glue on the end of a tooth pick, and slide it into the piston hole, and break it off. then go to the opposite hole, and use the other end of the tooth pick, and do the same. It takes two tooth picks to finish it. After the super glue dries, use some sand paper and smooth off the excess glue and tooth pick. It really is that easy. I only do this(pack) on the front piston because body roll occurs on the front first, when your turning and loading that side.

yeah remember a guy doing this in the early days of the Tekno SCT410 as the pistons included, 10 x 1.2s really sucked. He got them down to 8 x 1.2s and I just went with kyoshos 8 x 1.3s .

I went ahead and made some pistons in 6 x 1.2 and 6 x 1.3 configs using the blanks.

Also a side note, if someone is trying this, the DNX408T hexes will fit on the axles, however, the pin is bigger on the 408T hexes than the DESC10 / DEX8. was trying this for a basher setup. just a bit of play on the pin. wondering if I'll run them at all.

ALso, for a lightweight hex setup, I think some tekno 1/8 buggy hexes may work, but same kind of pin issue. But they sure are light. at least the ones I have.

Servos came in too!

Do you guys use a reference guide to set up your vehicles or just from your gut. I use both. I use the "Hudy off road set up book" and my gut depending on the track surface im running on. Obviously I star with an online set-up sheet as a base line. I am saying this because plugging the holes on the pistons might not be the answer to prevent traction rolling. Im no expert but I read a book written by one.

I do both personally and have a few guides I keep in my notebook. The piston change personally I can see merit to what platgof is thinking, though the big thing from that perspective will be how it affects overall handling, etc.

I plan to give it a try though, same setup, and see how it goes. Or, at least, go to say 50CST weight less oil around to compensate for the piston change. The big thing woudl be the rumble section on the track. Would love to head up there again if they had a practice day.

Limiting droop will give less weight transfer from rear to front and from front to rear. I ran the old desc410 desc210 and dex210. All i used was stock parts. Droop was the thing that made the biggest difference. Stiffer spring will help as well.

Theres a reason why Durango started offering pistons with less holes and they were larger. This is how to add punch to a piston.
