NEW DURANGO DESC10
#751
Well I just sold my tekno, so I'm looking really hard at the desc10
The tekno was awesome, placed 9th in the Amain at the jconcepts finals, but I'm looking to try something new. Anyone had both trucks? What are the differences between the two as far as turning and rear traction

Also, what is considered "hot"?
You may also try a fan too and you could even try a different rotor, if I recall novaks may still use the 12.3 on there, if they offer a 12.5 or even that 14mm rotor could be an option.

I had the V1 and used the DESC10 for a alittle bit before coming back to it again.
From what I could tell, I felt the out of the box setup on the DESC10 was better than the Tekno V1 for conditions that were loose. It was a great base setup.
I also felt it didn't have the weird nose down jumping characteristics the tekno was known for. I felt I could hit jumps with more confidence, and the rear end stayed planted.
As far as steering, for a box stock setup versus the tekno I worked onfor awhile, I felt the Tekno had more steering, however, I would look at it like having an excellent cake and then adding really good frosting to it, you still have excellent cake (DESC10), the tekno being the frosting.
But, again, that was box stock, and thats not using some of the various settings it has.

Where are you topping out down the longest straight? It could be your are undergeared. Even on very small tracks some of these motors like a sweet spot in gearing.

Edit : I just re-read your original post. If you are running a 2 pole 4.5 motor then that's your problem. This truck is to heavy for that motor. Get a 4 pole motor like the hobbywing 4000 or the tekin pro4hd and it will run much cooler.

I weighed this beast at 7.74 lbs. That is with a 6500 battery. I took it out in the front yard to see what she's got, and am very impressed. I did manage to roll it though? and it was a good one at that. I still have a mess to clean, as the ground is very muddy from all the rain. The Trinity 4850 motor did not get to hot at all, and I do have some timing on it, RX8 Stage 3. I really do need a 14 pinion, instead of the 13 in it. I am thinking, 13 indoor and 14 outdoor.

Take all of the timing out of the esc. 4 pole motors don't like timing. I'm not sure what settings are for the activ8. I've never used it. Start there. If it's running any timing at all setting it to zero should take heat out.

Also pick up the Durango extended pinion for it. I was told to try the 15 for the 4600. I am also ordering a 14 for the Zombie motor. I would love to try 3s, but most tracks frown on it. Stupid, really stupid!

Your right, ROAR is 540 4 pole, and 550 2 pole, as far as I know. Most tracks cut some slack, as long as it is not 550 4 pole. I have noticed a lot of tracks don't even bother listing 4x4 sct races. they are mainly 8th scale. This is because 8th scale is stupid fast. That is why 3s needs to come on board, to revive the class. Come on tracks, allow 3s to get this class going again.

I have owned both as well I feel they are both nice trucks, However the durango out of he box is Really good I have made a oil change and a camber link change and my truck is better then the Tekno. I never had a huge issue with the nose diving on the tekno ,But the desc10 jumps alot better and gets threw the bumps better truck is very planted feeling..
