Hey Casper, since you're using Speed Passion GT speedo, do you include a fan when running a 5.5 motor? If you do, do you thinking placing the fan on the side of the speedo is as effective as placing on top?

On a 2wd a fan on the side will be fine. Not sure you can find room on a 4wd to put the fan on the side. You will need a fan on it some how though.

I do not believe anyone stocks the SP Conversion Set. This was initially available as a limited offer before the release of the full SP kit.

Options are:

- Purchase the full SP kit
or
- Wait for the Lazer ZX-5 FS kit. (Conversion Set (LAW38) for the SP. Available as of 06/27)

According the the Kyosho Japan sight it is to convert the SP to the front motor, split battery configuration. I have not seen any pics of the upgrade kit yet so not sure it will have SP suspension upgrades as well?

Should be a chassis and all center drivetrain components. Apparantely rear gear box is a little different, so some components there as well. Front suspension is suuposed to be all the same. Also, my understanding is that the car is about 10mm longer than the SP.

Front motor and Saddle pack batteries, hence the FS.

From the looks of that picture you will need to run a low profile servo in this car. It may not be required but from that picture looks like there is not a lot of room for a standard servo on the side of the chassis.

Not sure if the FS is in a sense longer than the SP. To me it appears narrower.

Is the original ZX-5 still decent enough for club racing? Never ran one before. They pretty cheap of late so I was thinking of picking one up for indoor offroad.

geez...I can't hardly keep up with kyosho upgrades...lol

Here I thought the SP was a nearly perfect car. Now they are changing it again.

I think I'll just wait and see what happens.

I was about to drop some money on all the "3racing" upgrade parts. I almost did but the shipping was outrageous. $60 for about 1/2lb of parts. I'm glad I didn't seeing as there are so many new K cars coming out.

i wonder if the FS is going to be balanced with lipos. I hate all the ugly wheel weights.

If anyone wants my one way with shaft and bevel gear PM me.^^^

I was told that the car is longer. Whether it stays that way remains to be seen. I was also told that the FS conversion kit is still "up in the air". And that there is no definitave delivery date for either the conversion (if it actually becomes available) or the kit. There will be some FS's at the Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout in two weeks. Maybe after the Shootout more info will be available.

On a side note, the latest on the RT5 so far is "Winter" availability. There will be some running at the Shootout as well.

p.s. This is what I know, from who I talked to and info is subject to change depending on who you talk to!! LOL!

The SP is still a great car and if you like a stick pack car like I do it will still be a very good car. Afterall the SP beat out the "other brands" saddle pack cars in the recent R/C car shootout!

Suna-- The ZX-5 is a great good car for club racing. The SP has more built in steering but the older kit will still keep up just fine.
