2015 Offroad Worlds on astro?

I have a feeling you will see dirt surface with obstacles mostly made of carpet/wood for consistency. There's nothing wrong with a multi-surface track. It would be interesting to see some wood, stone rocks/pavers, maybe a sand pit, grass, etc but that can be a bit much to maintain for regular events. I'm sure the manufacturers are pushing for carpet to show off all the mid-motor cars at this point in time but don't fret guys - it will all cycle around eventually.
Personally I would like to see it on all natural material but in some areas of the world that's just not practical.

Would be kinda neat to see how things would go on turf

Glenn you do mean dirt like what we run on locally right? that "clay" stuff the pros run on is a farce. They need to cope with varying conditions and dust build up as the groove narrows up like we do. I'm sure they'd still whoop up on everyone, but still, shouldn't off road entail some sort of off-roadedness?

Let's see that.
Yatabe always had beautiful surfaces done in dirt, hate to see it go Astro.

Personally, I don't much care which surface it's run on. I enjoy both and neither will make a difference to my performance - I'm equally average on both
What I think is interesting however is to look at why astro came about, which was as a concession to climate. The traditional preference for 'off road' has always been dirt. But what if I live in a country where it's too cold to race outdoors? Or too much rain? Astro / carpet was the answer. More resilient and with the ability to be set up temporarily, indoors.
Now given the world championships shouldn't be making any concessions, and there are no such weather or climate challenges, why move to astro? Sign of the times maybe? Commercial factors perhaps? Who knows.
One thing is for sure, it's going to be a very interesting w/c!

Yatabe has been running Astro for a while.
As people stated, referring to a Sugared track and calling it dirt, Id like to call is "Brown Concrete".
Folks who remember the "old days" of RC and the loose stuff and big lugs.. just watching the 91 or 95 worlds.

As someone that has been racing since the 80's and having seen all the different types of surfaces and the dreaded "rocket round", I'm sorta surprised to say that I'm good with astro. Yatabe invented the hard dirt surface and the tires that go with them (Kyosho "fuzzy" tires were the first!!). Anyway, it's a scale model race car and astro isn't a horrible surface to race on. Not sure I could agree with carpet just yet but for now, "OK" with astro.
