Tower Hobbies Cutback 1/10 4x4 Short Course Truck

I was just on Tower Hobbies site, and the Cutback is officially discontinued.
I have been on the phone with them for a few week, because we got my son one for x-mass, because we liked mine so much, he had an issue with the radio not working, and the sales manager I spoke with recommended we return it for a credit instead of swapping it out, he's reason because parts are hard to come by and they were no longer offering the 2 year bash warranty.

Guess it's time to sell my Cutback maybe get a senton

well I am not going to worry about it too much. I'll just use as long at it lasts. Its already served its purpose to get me interested in something that doesn't fly. I already have my second surface RC, a used Serpent Cobra. I'll just stick with name brand stuff going forward. Kind of hot for the Losi ten-scbe.

I'm about to order a few parts from the UK, since Tower is out now. The price not much more even with the shipping.
I was on ebay yesterday and there was a couple used cutbacks forsale, They went for too much money really, considering the money it was going to take to rebuild them.
I've got some serious tire ballooning with the 54/17 setup lol. I may bump down to a 15T or 16T and do the tire tape anti-ballooning mod.

That stinks. My son loves his cutback. Although not going to panic. The truck is pretty tough so I am sure he will be using it for a long while. Maybe start to put together a list of parts that are compatible with other models.

I was thinking about making some aluminum lower skid plate mounts, The one that rips out if you nose dive completely vertical.

That would be great. That is the only part on the truck that has broken for us. I have replaced it twice and the second one I ended up putting in longer screws with a large washer.

Are you talking about the part that connects the front bumper to the chassis? If so I'll buy one if u can make it..

Here is a prototype part for the front skid mount. I was going to make that swivel mount part out of aluminum, but the washer mod has been holding up pretty well. So I am just going to make up some re-enforcement plates. It's a lot less work to make a plate than that part! This one is 2.25mm thick or .88" It is a little thin for the Flat head 3mm screws, the head is 2mm deep. So I may try and find some 2.5 thick .1" 6061 aluminum.
