ROI for a sponsored driver is almost impossible to calculate. It's all about exposure and reputation. Things that you cant really quantify as far as an ROI goes.

No but im sure someone is quantifying it on educated guesses. Kit sales directly after (1-2 months)a national vs same period of a non national winning year etc.

Well never see those numbers so its a pointless argument, but im sure someone somewhere does try to account for it the best they can.

I think the fact of the matter is if manufacturers didn't think they were getting good use of their money sponsoring drivers then they would stop.

There are way to many outside factors to even bother with calculations like this. Newly released products, other companies newly released products, the new exposure drivers are getting year after year with the internet and social media expanding, as well as other economic and social factors.

They know that if they don't place they wont be taken seriously as a race company and sales will suffer. Any guess a company would try to make on how much would be so flawed that it would be a useless number.

Only way to really know would be to drop a sponsored driver and somehow be able to keep all other factors identical over a few year span. Obviously impossible.

DING! DING! DING! We HAVE a winna! Send girlfriends phone # to [email protected] to claim your prize. An entire sack of racing potato's!

Ever wonder why the pro's won't talk to you? Cause ya'll are crazy nutters. This thread is bonkers.
-Does RM like beans?
-How many beans is a pro racer provided by his sponsors?
-Would you like to see more racers eating beans?
-Do R&D type drivers get more beans than just contract drivers?
-Do racers have to be personable and friendly while eating beans, or can they expect a little space while eating beans?
-Does TAG body spray sponsor drivers with bean contracts?
-Is it ok to talk about beans on Rctech?
-Is it tasteless to ask a pro driver what type of beans are his favorite, and how many he eats?

Will be nice to see RM driving a different car.

Tiger - 83 Million
Jimmie Johnson - 17 Million
Brittany Spears - 15 Million
Ryan Maifield - ??

Oh wait their not in the same league. Only 500 people know who he is. Sorry guys it's just the sport. It's not as popular as we want it to be.

To any Arizona native, a quick trip to Florida to escape the oppressive heat of summer probably sounds like heaven, but that's not why Ryan Maifield is visiting the Sunshine state. In a phone conversation, Ryan said that he was in the East Coast peninsula testing, but wouldn't say what he was driving or with whom he was staying, leaving us to play "guess who?"

Florida is the home of Ryan's long-time tire sponsor, JConcepts, so it only makes sense that he's spending time with Jason Ruona - the JC founder has played a huge role in Maifield's career and is often seen in Maifield's pit area, offering tire choice and setup advice. It would seem silly to suggest that Ryan would travel all the way to Florida and not hang out with Ruona.

As for what he's driving, that's not so easy to determine. Jason drives Team Associated cars, but even if he planned on continuing his career as a privateer we can't imagine that's what Ryan is driving. JR Mitch is one of JConcepts' top drivers in Florida, who is also sponsored by Maifield's new electronics sponsor Team Orion, and he drives for TLR - which only adds fuel to the fire as TLR has been rumored to be Ryan's most likely destination.

The dark horse candidate, though, is Serpent - DeSoto Racing, Serpent's American headquarters, is based in Florida. Serpent may be one of the smaller players in the RC racing market, but they haven't been shy about trying to expand their podium presence by hiring former IFMAR World Champion Billy Easton (a former Associated teammate to Maifield) as an engineer several years ago, and signing former electric and fuel off-road national champion Mike Truhe before last season. Of course, if Maifield was simply looking to escape any media attention and simply go drive an assortment of vehicles with Ruona at his side, a visit to Florida would give him the freedom to do that.

Once we know more, you'll know more!
