Default TRF 503 front hex hub conversion

Has any of you ever replaced the stock 10 mm hex hub adapters with the 12 mm ones? If so, which brand works the best? Got my Associated B 44.3 front hub yesterday but the inside diameter was too small and wouldn't fit my TRF 503. Heard from a friend that the TLR 22-4 front hex should work but another friend says ZX-6 hex works better. Somebody please help me out.

I used the alloy rear hex and pins from the Hobao H2 2wd buggy, I used 1 x shim behind the pin and no binding, these maybe a bit hard to find in the U.S. But was easy in the UK via the distributer CML

Tamiya should have the parts available soon for a OEM 12mm front hex, now that the DB01RRR has this as the standard front hex

As you already mentioned, Headling, Hobao is virtually unknown in the U.S. let alone hard to get. Thank you for your suggestion though I've read about the upcoming release of the DB01RRR on Tamiya Japan website but didn't know it has 12mm front hex. Thank you, JDM DOHC SiR. Guess I should let my buggy sit idle until the parts are available through Tamiya. I'm waiting for my Futaba MC 960 CR speedo anyway.

Default Front wheel hex problem

Just finished my 503 build and what a build...top quality as ever from trf.

One issue I have come across is with the front wheels. I have decided to stick with the 10mm hexes as I was needing to buy new rims anyway so I got some Concepts B44 rims with 10mm drive hex.
Fitted one side fine (didn't realise the hexes are almost push fit in the wheels!) but the other side is a problem.
Fitted the hex into the wheel, put pin in drive shaft and offered wheel up. Tightened nut which went tight then sort of clicked round and it was loose again and then tightened again, problem is that is now binding on the steering knuckle.
I also notice that there is about 3mm of thread protruding from the nut on this side whereas the other side the nut is almost flush with end of thread.
It's almost like the pin has been forced deeper into the hex so wheel is forced up against the knuckle.
What have I done wrong, any advice?

The hex may be either broken or on backwards. Also, JC wheels do rub a little. You will either need to Dremel the wheel or the spindle.

Yup, or buy a pair of the option hexes they started offering for the 502X & DB01's(p/n 54406), they're a wee bit thicker so B44 wheels will fit easily. I had a pair already when I started building my 503 & I used them from the start, & I haven't had a single problem with any wheels rubbing....

I contacted Tamiya customer service in Japan yesterday to request part number for 12 mm front hex hub for DB-01 RRR. Guess what they said. It is available only as part of the kit and they don't know if it ill ever be available separately as an OEM part. So, back to the original question. Which 12mm front hex hub should I get? I know Active Hobby used to make one but it's been discontinued. Any suggestion?

RC Square makes a 12 mm hex as well that will work...
I highly doubt that Tamiya would only sell a front hex with a kit then not offer after support They would be stupid if they did that.. lets say the kit never came with one ( highly unlikely but... )... Than would mean you would have to buy another DB01RRR to get that part

HAHAHA. Good point. That's what I thought too. Usually, on the back of manual you see all the parts numbers. I serious doubt that they would have a list of all parts except the front hex hub lol. It is a case of lost in translation. What they said is loosely translated as "Initially, there was a plan to release the front hex hub as a separately available part but at this time no detailed information is available." Eventually, it will be made available but I don't know how easy or difficult it will be to get my hands on it. As for the 3mm hex hub you mentioned, the inside diameter should fit. Right?
