I did some research on the DEX408T. Looks like a new contendor.

I checked their thread and it seemed like they were having some durability issues at the moment. I've read bigsquid's review and they broke a couple things and i've seen one in person have (i think it was), a turbbuckle come off or undone. Not hating, looks great, but it seems it would be best to wait out it's teething problems.

Is the picture of the Serpent converted to electric with the Serpent conversion kit, or something else?

A new Xray truggy came out. Looks like a carry on of the XT8, called the XT9.

That is the Serpent conversion. The full kit will be the same thing as well.

The serpent is an all around great vehicle. Durability and parts quality wise they are second to none IMO, I have owned losi, AE, Associated, and Mugen.

It's also a fantastic racing truggy. It responds very well to setup changes and there are a lot of good ones from all the team guys on Serpent's website. Very fast, corners great, and one of the lightest drivetrains on the market. Very nimble.

The top brands like Mugen, Losi, Kyosho, Serpent, are all competitive with each other racing, and with all of them you need a good setup to match your driving style and track. So to me something like very weak front a-arms (Mugen) compared to the Serpents (which are built like tanks), is more of a deciding factor.

Is there a solution to the small flanged bearings in the diffs? My friend has a converted serpent truggy and has had problems with the bearings blowing very frequently, which has ruined some ring and pinion gears.....

Im in the same boat as you except I'm waiting till the end of the year to get a e truggy. I would skip the mugen based on how frequently I see the ones raced hear locally break. The serpent seams solid other than the small 1/10 scale bearings (which is a big turnoff). The two Durango dex408t that race locally get absolutely hammered on and keep going. As of now, Im leaning Durango, but we'll see... I'm hoping the the serpent e truggy has bigger diff bearings.....

Basically, you just need to use quality flanged bearings for the diffs. I use tko, they last me roughly 2 gallons, which is a long time for any car.

Losi has used that size bearing forever as well
