I use Green Slime for years on diffs and shocks orings. It makes the orings swell a little and prevent leaking.
For the price and the time it takes to apply, there is nothing wrong to use it.

i've been told that properly designed (correct tolerances) o-rings shouldn't need to swell to make a good seal. in that case, you'd want to put a green slime or shock snot on them. if the shock leaks at the seals after being built (before o-ring swell), i've heard of people actually soaking the o-rings in oil overnight before installing them (pre-swelling them).
I use both of these products, great stuff and cheap!

I use that shiz on everything diff seals and shock seals just not as a coat of it on the diff gears of course.
