Hobbywing V3.1 vs. Hobbywing Xerun SCT-Pro
#1

So I'm considering either of these ESC's for my 17.5 SCT.
I really can't tell much of a difference other than the size and resistance of .0001ohm more on the SCT Pro than the V3.1 (other than the SCT being $100 less expensive).
I will also be getting the LCD programming box to make it easier to adjust settings.
Can anyone comment on any differences/pros/cons in these two and if the V3.1 would be that much better than the SCT Pro for my needs?
**The truck is 2wd (XXX-SCT) and right now it has a Losi MSC540BL-S Sensored ESC in it...which is a RTR ESC.
Thanks in advance.

I would get the V3. I run them in my 2wd and 4wd with no problems. Even in my dirt oval car. Very easy to set up and [email protected] $155. That's not bad. Not sure about the sct pro.sure it's good but just spend the extra $ now not later. That's my thoughts.

I've been running the SCT-Pro 120A for almost 2yrs and has been a great ESC. It spent about 1.5yrs in a Losi SCTE and the last .5yrs in a Tekno SCT410. For the price it's been a dam good ESC.
I've had it paired prior with a Pro4 4600 4pole and currently running a HW4700 4pole motor.

a major consideration for you is that if you're running stock class (blinky), the SCT-PRO does not have a blinky setting so it's not technically legal for stock class racing. if you run at a track that has lax rules and will let you run it as long as you have the timing at 0 and can prove it with your programmer, you should be ok.
aside from that, the V3 and .1 have LOADS more program-ability than the SCT-PRO. boost, turbo, two sets of throttle and punch rates, etc.

Since your using it for stock racing also consider the stock spec v3.1. It's a little smaller and lighter, has all the programming features of the 120amp bigger brothers. It's a little cheaper also but you'll have to search around some to find it. You can use it in mod later if you so choose but they only suggest a max of a 8.5 turn motor as its a 100amp ESC. I love mine in my B4

The sct pro is really meant more for the larger/heavier trucks and buggies. the v3.1 is more adjustable for stock racing where power delivery counts. so, i would say thats your best option.

justock esc = $49.99 works great for 17.5 blinky and its roar approved. 1/3rd the price of v3/3.1 but not as much programming ability, it's worth a look.

So I got the Xerun V3.1 Stock Spec (100A) in with the LCD programming box. Got everything installed and heading to the track tomorrow for practice. So far, as someone who is just getting back into R/C racing and has never had an ESC that can be programmed, it has been as easy as can be. The LCD programming box is easy to use and read the settings when not near a computer. When a computer is handy, the USB link makes it even easier and the software couldn't be more user friendly. Not to jinx myself, but assuming the ESC holds up to SCT racing with me driving (pretty bad right now), I will probably stick with Hobbywing for any other ESC's I get (which I foresee other cars being built in the near future).

Great choice. I could t be happier with that ESC in my B4.2. I'm on 100% hobbywing ESC's in all my 1/10th cars including motors.
Using the SCT-Pro in my E-buggy. There stuff is solid and smooth. Just don't plug a battery in backwards even for a split second tap. It WILL pop fets internally.
Don't ask me how I know (face palm).
