you can make anything fit. Just how GOOD it fits or looks is the deal. If you, lets say, are racing and you have a janky fitting body. No bueno. If your bashing, thats probably even worse. The 413 and 418 are different chassis. But, In sure with enough trimming and velcro, anythings possible..🤔
I would just order the correct body.

Oh yeah. You said "before you paint it up".. well you do all your trimming before you paint. So if you do so, and it doesnt fit like you want, well then you saved time spraying a body that doesnt fit....

fair enough. I’m honestly not too concerned about how perfect the body fits. As long as it fairly close I’ll be happy.

Well then Ill think you'll be happy. Go for it.
Remember to use polycarbonate paint. NOT enamel spray.

Does anyone have an alternative to the carbon top plate? I broke the front top plate this weekend and I hate to spend $72 when I only need one of the 3 parts. This is just my winter car, my son has the 418, I just hate putting money into it.

Has anyone made an aluminum replacement? I have a second D413 that I was planning to sell to fund an E819 project. I could reverse engineer the brace and try to make one myself.

I am sure in the end, I will spend the $72, I just hate doing so!

Stock chassis. Let me know, I would be interested. I did order some 2.5mm carbon fiber sheet. I am going to make an attempt to make my own as well.

Well FWIW here's what I did for standard length chassis ...been wanting to do a quick write up but no time if you have saddle pack battery brace then just CA and some nuts and bolts and voila!!

That’s really funny, that’s exactly what I did before the main on Friday night! I dug through my box and found a drill press at the track and made the quick mod! It survived the main!

Yes, a place called AR Designs does that top-plate in aluminum (and can also do D413 metal chassis). I ordered one that's a bit beefier (silver AR Designs on top, OEM on the bottom) - you can see it's carries the thickness of the flare at the very front through the whole length:

Hopefully that will let D413 owners run a few more years

After running a few weekends with the patched brace I ordered a sheet of 2.5mm carbon fiber from Amazon. I used a combo of drill press, table saw and scroll saw to whittle out a new brace. She sure isn’t pretty but it finished the indoor season.

Since the D413 front shock shafts (HBS113139) are discontinued, are people swapping to the D418 rear shafts (HBS204351) or is there a better alternative?

I'm kinda hoping the D418 rears will work... and that the D4 Evo will use the same shocks... so I can squeeze a 10th year out of my D413

Where did you buy those front shock protectors? Or did you 3D-print them?
