I was worried that this was going to be a valid point but then I saw the poster.

The fact of the matter is your girlfriend is buying you something awesome for your birthday. I think he makes a valid point about mod motors but which would you rather have given to you from a loved one: a $30 Trackstar or a $170 Ion?

Exactly, and to me the price tag isn't what is so exciting but rather the quality of the motor and the rarity (obviously comes with price tag but you know what I mean)

How does the validity of the point have anything to do with the fact that I'm the one that posted it?

It's very nice of your girl to buy you a nice gift, but for what she spent you could have got a Fantom 5.5 (what would be an equally high quality motor, and still faster than a $170 6.5), a full set of tires for your D413, and an extra battery.

Ultimately, if you're happy and she's happy, that's all that matters. For my b-day last week, my girl picked up the tab on my weekly amain order. A big box of goodies will be here today.

What's funny is I spoke with Fantom today and they basically said the abec 7 bearings are more for on road cars and to stay with stick bearings so I deleted those and had already decided to go with a 6.5 haha. The validity statement was in terms of you being negative in a lot of your posts. My post was just sheer excitement about what my chick was doing, and you came in with unnecessary negativity.

The break down seems weird..I never went though the process so sorry if its an ignorant question.

List 149.99
you save 65.04
Price 170.89

How is more than the list price?

Base price of the motor was 84.95 but there are add-ons you can get to improve performance.

Will do, Fantom actually recommended a few changes to the motor. Went with a 5.5 (my call there) but they said the 13mm rotor is going to have a lot of torque and if anything go with the 12mm comes stock with a 12.5mm so I'm going to run stock for now and maybe pick up the 12 and 13 down the road. They actually recommended stock bearings for off road, they said the ABEC 7 bearings are better suited to on road cars so I deleted those.

I kept the Teflon shims and aluminum timing ring, will mess with rotors later.

a 5.5 has a crap ton or toque and speed, you dont need more rotors
