I wish we could get this class going in North Georgia area. Would go well with all the 1/8 e buggy's around here.
|
Ive been trying to get this class going locally for quite awhile and have finally succeeded unfortunately it was mostly due to the $99 Tamiya kits which I'm afraid they won't hold out long

Hey thanks Stevenator128 for putting my video link up. I like letting people know how good something is especially when it comes to my EB48. I love this buggy and if I had the last one on the planet I wouldn't trade it for a million dollars! It's to much fun!!!
For a cool million....The hell you wouldnt take that money lol! |

Anyone know why the truggy has specific ring gears? both 40t both look the same from the photo's are they interchangeable for the pit box (eb48.2 and et48)? How about the pinion gear? Again look the same but are they? Not sure how many teeth the truggy has vs the buggy.
Edit: ok the buggy is 10t, truggy is 9t on the pinion gear, but both seem to be 40t on the ring gear? Same fitment? Thanks |
Not the same part.

I'm guessing, like other brands, the ring gear is raised further off the diff to bring it closer to the smaller pinion for proper mesh.

I am a racer at heart, but the flipside to this is, when you get honest about it, VERY few can say that this potential "payoff" even comes close to offsetting the expense of racing when you factor in entry fees, travel, practice, tire, parts, time, etc. If you are getting enough payoff to offset the cost, then kudos to you, but for the other 99% of racers, the point is essentially invalid. The guy with the $1000 basher still spends far less in a season than the racer with periodic payoffs.

I said potential winnings! I didn't say guaranteed. Even so 1% of something is better than 100% of nothing. And I also tend to disagree with a basdher spending less money through out a season. Bashing to me = 4+ hours or so give or take. Racing is 23 minutes of running once as week. So there is more time to break in bashing than racing in my opinion.
But also, like a lot of racers, I put a lot more than 23 min/week on my cars when I figure in practice/testing, probably a lot more than your average basher, and I am constantly replacing worn parts. A weekend of racing expense, depending how far you travel, has to cost about $80-$100(not including parts), you can buy a lot of A-arms for a Revo with that. Maybe you don't, but personally, I know I spend a ton more than most bashers, probably even if I only count one of the 4 race vehicles I run/maintain, and I don't even race every weekend because I have my own track and I want more time driving. We're talking toy cars here, the real payoff is not $$$, it is fun and amusement, I get the most of this with track time, that's why I sunk thousands into building one(with ridiculous jump combos for E-Truggy, really need to update my video, can't wait to get my hands on a ET48!), but if the basher gets his enjoyment doing what he does, and gets to do it for 4 hrs, that's hardly 100% of nothing, sounds like he's winning also. Sorry to get off topic, the last thing I want to do is force people to acknowlege how much $$$ we actually spend in this:eek: Probably just as much as my previous motocross habit........ My Tekno V4/Losi 8T has been strong for a couple years now, and literally every part, including chassis, has been replaced 3 to 20 times by now, I eagerly await adding a ET48 to my fleet, as my SCT410 and EB48 are my favorite cars I have owned. |

Trust me, I understand how a $0.37 trophy, or even just the bragging rights, perfectly justifies in my own mind the $1000/mo I spend in this hobby.....;).....but on paper it is just not the case....But also, like a lot of racers, I put a lot more than 23 min/week on my cars .............We're talking toy cars here, the real payoff is not $$$, it is fun and amusement, .... he's winning also.
I spend more money racing than bashing, and I bash 90% of the time. My 1/10 carpet offroad tires only last 2 weekends. My bashers hardly take any real damage. A bit of wear on parts (and oil break-down) isn't as important as it is on my racers, so I don't replace them until they become problematic. Monster truck tires last forever, even on concrete. There's no entry fee and I only travel to bash 20% of the time.....and no more than 15minutes away. 23min/week, you would have to have a permanently setup station at your track which has to be at your house and have a perfectly dialed car with an unlimited energy source and sheds dirt like water off a ducks wings: no travel time, no station setup, no practice, no tire/oil/spring changes or other adjustments, no charging, no repair, no cleaning, just heats in one class. In the end, as kevinpratt823 says, the payoff is enjoyment. Ok, back on topic. My plans are to race the ET48, but I figure it would be fun to bash to. This will be my 4th dedicated racer in the stable. I may wait til the truck actually hits the market before buying it. I've already bought tires, ESC, and motor. The servo, I'll buy this week once I decide which. |

I've raced my 8ight-t's and 2.0 for the last 4 years, other than the rear diff's that regardless of shimming keep going bad I don't have to replace anything for the most part during the season.. maybe swap $1 avid bearings out 1/2 way through. I race 1-2x per week and do very very well. I'm lucky I guess my setup tend to work everywhere with a change of tires the only expense. Off seasons I tend to swap plastic ends and a-arms w/ fresh but during the season I see no need,, loose is fast on the losi :) I've raced the same ESC for 3 years, the same 6s lipo's for 2years and the same tekin motor for 2 years as well (granted a $15 bearing swap 2x per year). I spend about 15 minutes cleaning after about 75% of my races, and re-fresh my oils about 3x per season unless I feel like it needs to be sooner. I spend more in tires than anything... but the rear diff is a close second replacing the two gears is 50 a shot typically. I hope ET48 this season is as durable and as fast as my losi :) With some luck I have zero diff issues and it becomes even cheaper to run! |
With the loss of the big outdoor 8th scale track near me, it looks like I'd end up in the basher category too when I finally get one of these. Hopefully we get to race full 8th ebuggy indoors soon, but truggy is a whole different ball game for track size.
