Well just ordered one of these which literally had to be the last kit available on the Internet and I am very excited about racing this Truggy. :) I am just now realizing that a newer updated version is in the works. I am very new to Tekno so my question is will I be able to update the current Truggy to the latest once it is released simply by buying some upgraded parts? Or will this be a new kit from the ground up?

I may not even need or want to upgrade I am just curious.

Still I am very stoked about receiving this kit only waiting a Week to receive this is going to be painful.

Tekno has always been very good about parts being replaceable and upgradeable. It hasn't always been the most affordable thing to do if you hadn't already upgraded some components, but it has always been possible and worked.

That being said, the ET48 has been one of the most amazing truggies right out of the box. I expect the ET to receive the least amount of changes to get to a .3 release, so you will likely just upgrade bits here and there as options or when somehow something breaks (or you wish it did, to give you an excuse, since these things are so beefy).

You're going to love it immediately, so don't worry. :)

Sounds perfect. I love this hobby. I mean what else can make a 36 year old me feel 8 years old on Christmas Day all over again and again and again. :)

Also this hobby can really stress the heck out of me and even depress me.
...but right now I feel like a happy kid and cannot wait to receive this Truggy Kit and start building it. Most people seem to think the stock body is fugly but not me. I love the slim look of it.

One question: a guy who races one at my track and wins every weekend is swearing up and down that I need to put the Tekin 1900kv "Buggy" engine in it and not the 2000kv "Truggy" engine in it. I already have the Gen2 Tekin combo with the 1900kv so that would save me money but IMO I would think I would be happier with the larger truggy engine especially being that I love extra power.

Any advice on this? The guy who tells me to stay away from the 2000kv is an amazing racer...but he tells me he wins because he is using a 1900kv buggy engine. No idea what to do.

Well you can do whatever you like, but I run the Tekin T8 1900 buggy motor because that is what I had as well. I think it works very well. It works well because it is not SO powerful. It helps it to be more smooth so there isn't as much instant torque to spin the tires. I guess depending on the track you might want something more powerful, but I haven't ever found the need for more power. The only thing is you have to be careful on pinion selection to help keep temps in check. For me, I haven't been close to too hot, maybe 165* after a hard long run.
Since you have the 1900 motor, I say go for it, you can always buy the Truggy 2000kv later if you feel the need for more speed.

You will have an advantage in knowing how to handle when your car is doing something random, how to roll with it and keep going, while most racers figure out how to correct something instead. Typical bashing setups jump really well but don't corner very well, so don't be surprised if you need to slow down to take corners. In general though, just have fun! The biggest thing you can do to make everything work better, and the first step to driving well on a track, is to have the right tires, so pick up a set of whatever everybody else is running, and then go from there. :)

Thanks for the advice. Going out tonight to first race. :D

So is the October release date for the .3 solid? I noticed a post on Facebook?

Well...tomorrow bright and early in the morning I will be receiving the Tekno ET48 and it is going to be tons of fun building it. :)
My question: does anyone know of a decent diff fluid combo to go with...a good setup for a T8 gen 2 with the Tekin 2000kv Truggy Engine that I'll be putting on it.
Somebody at my track told me I should try a 7000front, 10,000center, 7000rear. combo but I am not sure. I was also told by a few that Mugen makes a wonderful silicone to put in the Tekno as Tekno does not sell their own oils.

Thanks in advance.

So I went to race on Friday. This isn't a huge track and most people were running 10th scale buggies and SCT. I got to run my EB48 in the ebuggy class (had a blast) but there were no other truggies there so I didn't get to race my ET. But after racing was done I took it out for a couple runs around the track. 2nd lap I took a nose dive into a jump and snapped the whole front end off the truck (of the body). Will drywall tape on the hood help with the durability of this body? Glad I ordered that extra body before. starting the paint scheme layout tonight

List of ET48.3 updates

* New trailing front spindles and spindle carriers
* New V2 hinge pin braces and inserts
* New clamping spring perches with captured shock boots
* New rear hubs
* Low profile wing mount
* Revised bumper for increased ground clearance
* New split center differential mount
* New straight turnbuckle rod ends
* New tapered aluminum front center driveshaft
* New easily adjustable droop screws
* Revised shock standoffs for easier droop measurement
* Updated setup sheet for improved handling

Not a great difference IMHO but it brings the ET up to date with the EB/NB, SCT and SL .3's.

What we do need is a new body!

i saw the new et48.3 truggy on neo-bggy

Just bought an ET48 that is ready to run and is very fast, but the timing is not right now for me to add it to my stable. I'm going to tear it down, rebuild it up and post it if anyone is interested. Tekin, Savox and Hobbywing. Have new body for it unpainted and sealed.

Well I went ahead and ordered the 7000 and 10,000 weights for diff fluid Mugen Brand anyway. I would imagine this being a pretty decent setup for the Tekin 2000kv but again if anyone has a better idea let me know.

I'm running 10/15/7 and its worked really well at my track. As far as electronics go I'd say start low with brake strength and current limiter and go from there. That 2000kv motor is a beast and it helps to tame it a bit while you get used to the truggy and find your setup.

It's available for pre-order now on Tekno's website. No suspension geometry changes. Just upgraded with the new style camber plates, offset front hubs / uprights, and rear hubs like the EB48.3. Also gets the split center diff mount and new wing mount.
