Default Tekno Oils and parts

I have a ET48 on it's way, I have been doing loads of research about diff oils, as well as shock oils. I am currently in the states and plan on moving back to Namibia (Southern Africa), I plan on running at their local track, however I know that parts aren't easily found there, which would require me to order online and have them shipped.

1.So while I still have access to everything around me, I'd like to get what would most likely break (if anything). Can someone suggest me some good spares to have in hand?

2.I would also like to know whether the standard diff oil setup is a good (in between/starting) setup. 20/20/10 ? I plan on taking some variaties of diff oils back to figure a good setup.

3.Also the shock oils, I know it is entirely determined by the track, which in this case has pretty squared jumps. I'm sure the standard shock oils are in between so I can most likely be looking at getting some heavier oil to take over with me?

Advise/Suggestions would be appreciated.

not sure about oils, but have a variety so you can choose.
I haven't broken anything on my ET, but have bent a couple of inner hinge pins. So I would say a few hinge pins.
An extra set of fr and rr arms.
Consumables like o-rings for diffs and shocks, diff seals, maybe a set of bearings from Avid, shock boots (mine tear easily), CVD rebuild kits, and body or two
hope this helps

Are most people running a buggy motor in this truggy? It appears that way through looking on the forum. I was looking at the Tekin 2000kv truggy motor but it seems like that may not fit without modifying the Rx8 ESC I have for it. It also sounds like it's too much motor for it as well? Thanks for the advice.

the RX8 I beleive fits fine.

Larger ESCs like the Viper VTX8 its VERY VERY close to the motor sensor wire. If you had say a motor that had the wire slot from the front solder post area versus from the top would be fine I think.

But, I have found when I used the Tekin 1900 and the Viper 1900 they were more than enough motor for the track. Tekin doesn't recommend there motors , the buggy ones, for truggy usage. Viper didn't have that limitation so I use there 1900.

The TEkin I used was a gen 1.

RX8 and the 2000kv motor is probably the most common setup I see in this truggy. The longer can with the rx8 will fit without modifications, just make sure the senor wire is plugged in prior to buttoning everything up.

I'm currently running a 1900 T8 motor buggy motor in mine. It has plenty to do the job but it lacks a little bit on the bottom end. I'm about to go to a 1700 truggy motor to get a little more torque and motor will work a little less.

The more research I do, the more excited I get about ordering this truggy and the SCT410. Their customer service has been great when I've emailed them with questions and the military discount they offer is unbelievable! I don't know of any other brands that offer a military discount. I thought for sure I was gonna end up with a Losi truggy but now I think I'm going to go with the ET48.

should be fun.

If I wasn't using the viper setup I would have gone with a 1700kv truggy motor on 4S to get a bit better gearing range.

What do you mean by better gearing range with a 1700kv vice the 2000kv truggy motor? Thanks

my buddy and I are running 1700 with no timing, and 19t pinion. I was racing at Jan Jam last weekend with Ryan Lutz and he was telling me that the 2000kv motor is nuts. The 1700 is still crazy but 2000 is worse!

Thanks for the feedback. I've been Leary about going away from the big name brand Rc companies, but Tekno has definitely changed my mind about that. Hope the SCT410 comes back in stock soon since I'm looking to order the truggy and SCT.

On some tracks you can find that you run out of gearing range relative to how small a pinion you can put on. So a motor with a bit less Kv rating will allow you to have a better "range" pinions that can be used.

2000Kv is probably the limit in my opinion that I would use, and I would prefer 1700kv personally as the motor can pull the gearing fine in the vehicle and hence you can gear up or down depending on the track size / conditions seen.

If someone would make a 1900kv Truggy motor, that could be a nice option. As for right now, the Viper 1900kv motor is very torquey in comparison to the Tekin Gen1 1900kv I had here, so it does the job perfectly for me.
