hard packed, loose, fairly smooth.

me personally for our conditions this setup felt pretty good for the loose rough conditions here. May make a nice base to start with:

as it is VERY VERY loose here at times, I went down I believe to 12K in the middle, maybe 10K.

thanks Cain,

no prob. One thing I found with the ET48 when I got to run it was that the setup felt really good, especially the shock setup. was quite happy with it. Probably the best handling of my vehicles.

looking at what you are running on, I probably would start with the setup I mentioned.

These are the conditions I race on when the season is running which can harden up but when that happens gets very loose:

very similar conditions as mine are come summer time Cain.

Cain 11-23-2014 01:36 PM

I think the only other thing I did change was starting with more toe in, but to be honest I was working my way back down to the setup mentioned as the rear end was almost too planted. first time I had to say that about a tekno on loose stuff!

I had a very similar breakage that you described so I thought I would share...

My first time at the track, on my 3rd half-speed lap I hit an exposed metal support for a bridge that caught my right tire... driver error of course, but I couldn't believe that sort of damage going half-speed! Must have hit it just right!

These are the pieces that I broke:

TKR5428 (aluminum shock tower)
TKR5012 (diff housing/case)
TKR5017 (hinge pin brace)
TKR1333 (big 'ole screw)

First breakage on my truggy and is going to cost me some $100 for the parts above...

A few pics posted.

Are you guys seeing a lot of ET48 shock tower breaking?

I ask because it seems like I have seen quite a few break at that same point....

Your break looks basically identical to mine but mine was on the other side. Mine was after launching my truggy off a huge dirt mound St the local park. The rear kicked up off the dirt and I couldn't get it to go nose up enough and landed right on the front of the car. Went probably a good 50 feet and it looked awesome though

Do the bulkhousings commonly break like shown in the pic above? Are there any upgrades for these parts?

Welcome to the forum. And sorry that happened. Looks like it hit just right to do that damage. Its not common for the diff case to break. Lots of leverage on that tower and landed the right way. :(

I've noticed that the aluminum on the towers and hinge pin braces)looks like pewter when they break! Like it's not milled out of billet

That setup shows the 10 degree spindle carriers. Did you switch to them?

I posted a couple pages back that I removed my sway bars completely, just to try it on our track which doesn't get groomed on non race days. I also switched to the 10 degree carriers, raised my ride height a bit and removed some front droop.

I've probably got 100 practice laps on it now with the above changes. It's amazing to me how much more hooked up it feels when cornering on the really slick track. I ordered a set of the smallest sway bars to see what they do for me but I would still like to hear from someone on what problem I should expect from running with no sway bars, to make me put them back on.

The setup sheet you reference above has a huge difference in sway bar thickness from front to back. I wish I could ask the driver what problem he was trying to solve with that 2.8mm rear bar. I'm guessing he was trying to get more on power steering as that's what made me take out some front droop.

What tires are you running on the loose track? I've tried AKA I-Beams, Impacts and CityBlocks, all soft, but I've kept the CityBlocks on while experimenting with this stuff.
