The weight of a wrap on a SCT body is a horrible idea.

Quick question.. can I use the tekno tkr 5016b gear box to replace the stock front diff housing/ gear box? It has bigger od. bearings than the stock housing... on the package it says rear angled 5x13 bearings eb 48 et 48 sct 410?? Will this be better than the stock front gear box tkr5012?

I think it would cause a weird angle for the drive shaft, much like the problem that gearbox solved in the rear.

This will not work. The front bearings should not fail unless the diff coupler is binding. There is really no load on the front. We angled the rear to reduce the load, then beefed up the bearings for added security.

We have lexan mud guards on order from our factory. They should be available in a month or so.

How the hell (pardon the language) do you guys afford this stuff? I just put together a shopping cart at Tower with a tekin setup, Hitech 7954 servo and a cheap receiver and its over $1000! That's twice the money i paid for my TT MT4 - G3. Is it really worth it?

Is a BMW 3 series worth twice the price of a Chevy Cruise? :p

I know a lot of guys have been waiting for this truck for a while and sold off other trucks for the Tekno. I sold my RC8 before I got my truck so I had all of the electronics sitting around.

Its also tax refund time so a lot of guys have money burning a hole in their pocket.

$1000, um your a little low if your starting from scrach. Your gonna need batteries and tires. 4300mah isn't gonna cut it in a 10 minute main with this thing and 90% of your setup is tires. So your gonna need to buy some good ones. A lot of the seasoned guys have extras, motor, esc, servo, etc...Doesn't hurt as much because we have spread it out over time. Quality isn't cheep and cheep isn't quality, but buggies and truggies are a ton of fun

Its still cheaper than guys that buy $50K boats and use them 2 times a year or $13K snowmobiles and use them 1 time a year. My house is on a very large lot so I built a 1/8th track about 200 feet out my back. Our weather here sucks for 6 months out of the year but from spring till fall I drive at least 2 or 3times a week. If you are using your stuff enough to wear it out it means you are using it for what you purchased it for. I don't understand guys that will buy a new Corvette and drive it maybe 2 times a year. Why not use your stuff?

Mizchief 04-20-2014 08:31 AM

Yea all I had to buy was the kit and tires, then I splurged on a servo with more torque.

I agree with the BMW vs. Chevy commit. Just yesterday someone asked what it was like to drive one (would have just handed him the stick but was in the middle of a race day) it's like riding in a Cadillac vs. a Civic. Very plush on all sections of the track. I'd over jump things and expect to hear the big chassis slap, but nope just soaks it up and keeps on going.

Pipes, ruts, other cars, whatever it just rolls right over them without missing a beat.

Yea you have to put it into perspective. If you grew up playing with Tyco's off the shelf cars that are made of cheap plastic and go 5mph these cars seem really expensive. If you come from other race scenes like motocross, go carts, etc. These are inexpensive if you want to do some serious racing without risk of hurting yourself.

Now when comparing to the cost of 1/10 scale stuff, that's really just up to you to decide if it's worth it or not. It's the same way with RC airplanes the bigger the model the more you will feel in control
