At any rate I just got my buggy together and took it out for its first run tonight at my local track. First impressions are that it jumps and lands great, I'm a big fan of how you can push it into corners and power through them smoothly. I'm running the buggy in 17.5 stock presently so setting it up for this style of racing wasn't the easiest as allot of the stock kit stuff is for mod. I was able to fit an associated spur onto the buggy with a little help from a body reamer. However after about 10 laps the front left steering knuckle simply broke in two. I was pretty surprised by this as it didn't even take an impact. I will say that after looking closely, I wasn't that impressed with the quality of the plastic on the caster blocks and steering parts. It could have been the harsh MI cold rendered the plastic brittle at that spot but I'm used to things being a bit more durable then to break on normal use. Overall I really love the car. I'm hunting for aluminum steering knuckles, I saw CF ones on the caster racing site but of course they are out of stock :/

Anyone know another spur brand that could be used with this buggy?
Hop up site for this car?
I broke both caster blocks and steering knuckles from the kit but haven't had any trouble after that some use hpi spurs I think

I would attribute the breaking to the cold weather. I've clipped some pipes at full wood, where I expected breakage..And was surprised when it drove away fine.

Do you know which HPI spurs fit?

I did the melt the plastic back together with a soldering iron trick then slathered it in CA and then ran heat shrink around that. Hope that will hold the knuckle for a race day. Ordered new stuff but who knows shipping time to MI.

So race #2 with the buggy went great...qualified and finished 3rd out of 12 total. A couple of the heavy-hitters were elsewhere, but it was a points race and I'll take a 3rd anyday.

As far as the parts breakages, I broke a few of the original parts out of the kit (gear gase, front caster block & spindle, and 1 ballcup), but after replacing them I haven't had anymore problems ( I did upgrade the front spindles to the CF ones). It is still cold outside, so either I haven't crashed it the right way since I replaced the parts or the replacement parts were better somehow. I still took quite a few spills and everything held up great.

What are some needed upgrades? Some spares to order? Thinking about trying this car out. Current fleet consist of kyosho's.

Thanks!

I'd say caster blocks and steering knuckles, thicker motor plate for RM and possibly the brass rear bumper. Other than that it rips.

Are you going to run mid or rear motor? The upgrades depend on what configuration you plan on running it. The thick motor plated is a good upgrade to get in either layouts. The spindle, front and rear hub pack doesn't hurt. Oh and the blank pistons (assuming you can drill your own) offered by Hobbypro for tuning options, no other companies pistons fit. Outside that nothing is must have; if your running in a cold environment think about boiling the trans case and if rm the motor guard. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

Thanks for the response! I'll be running mid motor this winter in stock 17.5 on carpet in pretty cold conditions. I'll be running mod rear motor outdoors in hot conditions this summer.
