13/54 is under geared using the Pro4 HD 4300 in that truck. Go up to a 15-16.

I am not sure what motor the other guys are running. I need more top speed but also need more out of the corners. So I need the speed of a 17 or 18 tooth pinion with the torque of a 13t pinion. What motor would you recommend? Would the hd 4300 be faster than a 4600 or a 4.5 redline sc motor?
Should be easy enough to find out what they're running right? Just ask.

The 4000kv is fast but the 4600 is faster. The Pro4HD would have more torque and can pull a bit more gear.

The hd can pull more gear than 4000 or 4600? What are the rpm's on the motors?

Yes,

KV is rpm per volt.

So the 4300 has less rpm than the 4600. It's also longer so it has more torque...hence the taller gearing.

Ok. Thanks. Now to make a decision on which way to go. Am I correct in guessing the 4300 geared correctly would go as fast as the 4600 and have more torque doing it?

More torque yes, however the Pro4 4600 will not leave much on the track compared to the HD in some cases.

For oval, the HD is the better choice for the torque.

Make your life easy and go with the HD 4300 and don't look back. There is a reason why it is the latest and greatest motor. I can't wait to use mine in the new build.

"Latest and greatest motor". That's a rather bold statement for a motor that really has no practical use. This Pro4 HD is balls off the walls crazy. The regular Pro4 motors are still overpowered for the current lineup of 4wd SC trucks we currently have. The 4300 is best suited for 1/8 size tracks, if your indoors or on a 1/10 style track, the 3500 is plenty. Stuffing in more power isn't going to make you faster.

On oval, more power is good as long as you are getting the power down out of what you have now. I like overkill anyway.

@Hoese37

I am preferential to large outdoor tracks so works great for me. However, the 4300kV HD can still do very well inside for those who can control it. I see the fast pro drivers running either 4600kv and or 4300kv motors inside on the 10th scale track as well. I agree that more power isn't necessarily faster especially for those less experienced.
