What battery are you using? for stock racing a shorty pack is the way to go, especially for indoor. It'll jump lighter and be more aggressive. The 1.6's have more pack than the tapered 1.4x3. You can try bumping the front spring to green and running 35/32.5 front/rear respectively. Adding droop (removing travel limiters in the shocks) will allow the car to land better but it will be easier to traction roll on indoor clay. If you're still having issues, try making/purchasing 1.5x2+1.1x2 flat pistons. They control the high speed dampening pretty well.

Bump it up to 24mm for outdoor, add another 14grams of weight in the battery tray and again, no problem.

Maybe you should ask questions about your Tekin products in the TEKIN THREAD.
If you are going to make a change to a setting, you are going to have to post what your motor/esc is doing that you don't like. There are way too many setting changes that can effect way too much stuff for someone to just write out what everything does. Not to mention there is a guide on the Tekin website that gives you a general starting point.
Also, if you are asking these types of questions, you do not need an 8.5

Never tried kit springs but the kit pistons have alot of blow by, they don't fit tight in the shock body.

Honestly I think you may want to get an overview first of what the settings do from the manual, and if that isn't sufficient, post the messages on Tekin's thread.
From there, you will get a better understanding of what the product does setting wise, and then you can have a better handle on what to ask as it relates to your vehicle.
Since you are looking at running mod, to be honest a lot of the features of the ESC you probably won't need. Maybe current limiting to calm down the low end power to be honest.
I don't run a Tekin ESC, but with my Speed Passion one that has similar settings, in general with an 8.5 I don't use the timing, etc. features, mainly the current limiting or similar punch control.
8.5 motors give a lot of pop to the buggy. Now if you were running say a 13.5 in a field of 8.5s, etc, you may find benefits to the features of the esc.
Hope that helps.
Tekin is race quality, so it is proven in that sense.
