Not sure if you open to trying a different front tire.

Have you tried less shim(s) under the front tower ball stud? In general if I felt the rear end was good, I played with the shims under the ball stud on the front tower to adjust how much bite I was seeing up there. It may be that little change could give you what you need but still keep the rear feeling "right" for lack of a better word.

Just some thoughts, could be way off base here but figure the change is quick if you haven't already tried it.

Good advice here. In my experience the scrub front has less steering then a treaded front. I like Taper Pins or Barcode fronts much more. Could be just at my track. Currently running barcode/closed cell. Maybe I need a scrub open cell.

Front washers give too much steering if I remove the silver washer and keep the blue washer. I thought about trying two silver washers and remove the blue washer. Would make it just a tad lower.

And slipper will not effect steering. Not sure where you came up with that. Please explain Wild Cherry.

I also thought about trying a softer rear oil like 25 wt. I guess I need to get back to the track and play.

the only thing that would make sense it if you are getting on it coming out of the corner and lifting the front wheels. The slipper could be loosened to allow a small slip and keep the front wheels down for a little longer. Otherwise I have no idea what he is saying.

no worries, definitely track dependent on tires but thought I would throw that out there ... and you promptly crushed it like the Babe of old

From what I am seeing on google units converter, it appears that the 0.030 shims are about 0.762mm So maybe going to two of them will not be as drastic versus taking away the full silver and using the 1mm instead?

makes me curious now, anyone know of a place that sells shim kits specifically in say .25mm .5mm etc sizes ? Or, if not, where you guys find they at in those sizes that are useful on the b4?

chevmaro 04-30-2013 12:23 PM

I'm with you cain. I absolutely hate it that some shims are 1mm, 2mm and others are .030. Right now I am about 1.7mm under from ball stud and if I change to two silver I will be 1.5ish. I'm going to try that first.

Cain 04-30-2013 12:34 PM

lol. I have been using a bunch of shims that came with my old Academy cars which are metric sizes. Some of them are like .75mm when I measure them. In general pretty much gone to metric sizes for shims where I can.

Where are your rear shocks mounted? Your setup you posted listed it as inside tower and out on arm...

tighter = more steering into turn & less traction coming out

Believe looser allows smoother weight transfer.

BFast has some shim kits. They are Teflon not metal I think

maybe you are thinking diff???

slipper settings have no effect on OFF-power steering. no power = no slipping of slipper...

unless there is some magic going on here that I can't wrap my head around lol

no majic

see locked up slippers (not diff) all the time ..

you must understand how a locked slipper performs on the track cuz you seem to have some experience:)

elex300 04-30-2013 05:43 PM

Just my opinion but if you are adjusting your slipper for steering tweeks your way off the mark.
