I forget who it was but last year one of the pros was pissed off at a race and threw his radio down off the drivers stand breaking it at a big race . Kinda childish IMO and not the kind of behavior I would want from a company representative .

I cannot stress enough, LINKS!!!!!!!

When it's all said and done, it's just toy car racing.

Was this "pro" racing in an intermediate class?

It was not Maifield or Tebo, and if memory serves correctly, the video was very had to see what actually happen -- more like your heard it happen. Unless there was different video of the same event. I will be politically correct and not name, names -- don't think it was the purpose of the thread.

I would never think Tebo would explode and do something like that. If you've ever met him he is just very calm and collected at all times.

Unless there is a second radio incident that I'm not aware of I've got no problem looking past a temporary laps in judgement when you're the current IFMAR 2wd and 4wd champion as well as getting a hat trick at this years ROAR nats

Where I race many of the drivers are sponsored by many different companies, the whole gamut is covered. For the most part its a great thing, as there all nice and helpful guys off the drivers stand. Why did I become sponsored ? To get a price break, well yes. But mainly to help promote a product, and to have my voice herd by the manufacturer. If I wanted to get by on the cheap, i would have bought used.

For those looking to be sponsored, if this isn't you're true reason for being sponsored you're missing the whole point.

Not only is a company associating itself with your name and how you represent them but you're doing the same. It's easy when you're dealing with the big names like AE, TLR, Kyosho, ect. When you decide to support a little guy, know who you're dealing with because your name is on the line as well.

IMO

Just want to say thanks to Racer1812 for bringing to my attention the issues with one of my sponsors screwing people over. They are no longer in my sig. If you are going to represent a company then be informed of these sort of things.

The video was pulled down shortly after being posted. If I remember correctly, RM had engine problems which caused him to be way off pace. Shortly into the video he lost it with a major meltdown (25 minutes worth). The pressure those guys are under to perform is unreal. I would have a hard time keeping cool if my livelihood depended on winning races.

Anyways here's the thread following the video, if you skip to page 14 RM apologized for his actions.

sponsorship = buying twice the crap you dont need at 50% off.

trust me, i did that in the 80's.

I left a "team" sponsorship, bought a stock motor from a hobby shop, and proceeded to tq a very large dirt oval race with over the counter batteries and motor.

freedom of choice and making wise purchases will save more money over time.
