Tekin rx8 rocks. Their HD motor is quick, so is hobbywings 3656 motor, either one is a good choice.

I would think that you could add whatever .2 truck parts come out for not a lot and enjoy the truck now.
Or wait some unknown amount of time and save $50... or whatever to upgrade to .2.

Just do it!
Also, 3656 would you go for the 4kv or 4.7kv? Thx.

Oh, also, what would be a good battery for the sct410 for racing? Thx.

I would go with the 4700 kv as for lipos 6500 mah-7200 mah with a high c rating promatch and smc are good sources.

Oh yeah... add new +1mm thicker axle tips to the improvement list. I went through a stint were I broke a few axles in a couple months but haven't had an issue with them for a few months now. They did put out a new axle but not sure if they are packaging that with the new kits.

I use a Tekin RX8 G2 and the Hobbywing 3656 4000 KV motor. I hear it 18/44 for a technical carpet track and it is great. I use 15/44 on a dirt track and have been successful with those setups. I highly recommend the Tekin and Hobbywing setup.

Sure it will be ok, probably a bit overfull. I agree with the sanding, or replace.

Also I was going to fit the truck with the RX8 Gen 2 ESC with the Pro4 HD 4300kv. Any adivise and thoughts woudl be much appreciated! Thanks.

No new version to come out anytime soon. The rear angled gearbox and the lightweight diff cups would probably be the only changes. Id get the HW 3656SD motor. The Tekins just seem to run hot compared to the HW. Just ran last night and my 4700 at 70% was still puling the HD down the straight. The HD just has too much low end power. Mine was temping at 135 on a super tight indoor layout using a 17t.

As for batteries youll want as much MaH and C as you can get. Either the SMC 7200 70C, or the 6000 80C.

Oi Hoese....who was using an HD there last night??? Sam's 2 pole 550 would nearly hit the quad and my 4000 4 pole 540 at 70% was close too. These things all have too much power.

Mattocks has the HD, even he said it has too much low end, and the current limiter is at 60%

From Day 1 I always put a thin layer of silicone on both sides and never worry about leaking

I always sand my diff cups and use 2 gaskets to keep the gears from being too tight from where I removed material. No leaks either.

I run the 4300hd with an 18t @ 30% current limit with no problems. Softens the bottom end out (less wheel spin) and temps between 155-175. Anything under 200 is fine with Tekin in 1/8 and pro4, tho they like to see their motors in the 160 range. Motor damage doesn't start till around 220 degrees. Just my 2 cents

Hadn't thought about two gaskets...is it bad idea to run two gaskets without modifying gear case?

Never tried it, it might make the gear mesh a tad loose.. I always sand the diff cup to remove the mold marks. Just takes a second or 2.

Youre not really modifying the case, just making sure its still flat. After the screws have gone in it tends to mushroom the top of the hole because the screw is such a tight fit. You're not really taking so much off that you need a second gasket.

Default Tekno's thicker axle stubs

The clearance is very tight getting the tip through the rim. Which I am hoping helps keeps the rim from shaking loose.

Tekno's bigger matching lug nuts do have that nice knife like serrated back but are expensive. The TLR Losi aluminum nuts with the same knife serrated back actually became dull anyway. So I going back and trying the non serrated lugs again. Between the larger size and tight fit, spending extra to get the serrated back side might not be needed.
