I ran my 6 x 1.49 pistons I made with 40f, 30r, stock springs and it works much better.
On the triple I still have to keep the throttle up a bit so she won't dive forward but like the way the truck handles the rest of the large track. I'll keep it this way until I'm used to the set up but might try to go up a bit on the rear shock oil and see if that helps any.

Do these pistons work better with standard, vented, or emulsion?

Thanks!!!

Very similar to SRAMOS reply. I go back and forth between the fioronis and 8x1.3. Both are amazing changes. I use 35F 30R Losi. Id have to go check the springs im using but its close to SRAMOS. I run bladder vented, never emulsion, just dont like it and feels more inconsistent to me.

Ya, I find with emulsion you have to put new oil in more frequently to keep them consistent. Almost twice as fast as compared to any bladder setup

all personal preference. I would start with vented bladder if you are new to shock tuning. emulsion is a lot more upkeep as you can see in SRAMOS above post.

So, what are the main differences with standard and vented with bladders? As far as vehicle reaction goes. I would think the standard setup on the shocks would be the most consistent.

Not sure if you were asking me or?
I run sealed bladders.. No venting

from what I saw, I am running a std bladder setup and at times it felt a big more bouncy compared to what I saw on my daughters emulsion setup.

I am going to try vented bladders next and see how it goes.

Are you using the heavy duty spring? Or the one that came with the kit?

The Hd. It didn't seem too heavy even with that. If you have a lower speced servo then run it a little bit looser.

Race report

I raced my truck for the first time last night and had a blast. I got a second in the main out of 9 other (seasoned) drivers with a tekno 410 beating me by 3/4 of a lap. It felt awesome to bang wheels again and with these heavier trucks not be pushed around like in pro2. I run close to the Barry bakers set on a damp clay/ dirt mix with a few changes suggested in this great thread. I run the 8x1.3 pistons and green spring all 4 corners. After the first heat I changed to the green spring from stock and thought I put the springs in wrong cuz the truck had no droop. So I backed off the spring nut to race ride heigh 26mm and it looked the way it should. Before with the stock springs u had to crank on the collar to compress the spring just to get the right amount of ride height. Truck felt great. Now instead of slapping the dirt and bouncing back up,it soaked up the jumps and was ready for the next jump with a lot less nose down issues. For the main I decided to put a softer rear sway bar for more rear traction (was not locked in). The result was perfect infield attitude but now I was traction rolling in the fast sweepers. I was able to adjust my driving to compensate for this (like going slower around the corner:()but was hoping you guys could help me out with some setup changes. I was told less droop and more rear camber would help.

Bottom line is this truck is awesome and can't wait for this weekends big race!

Thanks for the tips in advance.

That's exactly what I tried for the same problem and it helped me.

Where can we get an updated copy of your setup? I'm going to start my build soon and was going to use your old setup from the site.

On your emulsion build, you cut out the whole inside of the bladder and use the outer thicker part for a gasket?
you use plastic caps or metal ones?
if plastic, which holes are drilled?
thanks
would love to see a quick video of that build!

I cant speak to what he exactly does but emulsion can only be done with the composite caps as you need the threaded hole at the top(i could be wrong but thats how i understand it) to bleed it. if you use the composite cap you drill out only the threaded hole, the smaller holes need to be undrilled or filled w CA. I dont know why youd need to cut the bladder for a gasket, theres already an oring around the shock body.

Correct me if I’m wrong
The purpose for the Fioronis is to expand the o rings against the shock body and generate friction for more pack. This occurs when the fluid goes through the big holes when the shock is compressing. When built with air, or emulsion, wouldn’t that defeat that purpose? Am I missing something?
